My doc is letting me decide. I'm currently on Cimzia. I only had a month or two that was close to remission before the symptoms started coming back. I just had a scope and it's not as bad as it was before Cimzia, but it's active (transverse and descending colon, terminal ileum). He said I could either add Imuran to the Cimzia, or switch to Remicade. I'm not sure what to do.

Adding one pill a day would be easier than going to the hospital for infusions every 8 weeks. But if the Cimzia isn't working well, will Imuran really help much? I'm really torn on what to do here and could use some advice.:sign0085:

Hey, what a decision to make! Sorry you have to make it. We dont have Cimzia in Canada, but from what I have seen Remicade is alot stronger (I had a very bad reaction 3rd infusion) and I cant take imuran either. But given the choice I would try imuran and like you said it is a pill not a full blown infusion. All you can do is try and if it dont work, then it may be Remicade. Let us know what you decide! Good luck ;).

I agree with Pen. I would first try adding in the Imuran. Then, if that doesn't work, I'd know I had Remicade to try.

I tried Cimzia plus 6MP (similar to Imuran). I hated 6MP, it lowered my WBC count way too much, so I switched to Remicade. In between switching doctors and stopping Cimzia and 6MP, I decided to start juicing. It made a HUGE difference and I feel great. I since started Remicade because I know as a Crohnie, that no matter how good I feel, I need to be on meds. I'm now in remission and have never felt so good. I'm sure the juicing helped immensely but the Remicade is probably keeping me feeling so good. Quite honestly, I prefer the 2 1/2 hours hooked up to an IV over the monthly shots. It's easy and I get a chance to sit and relax for a bit.
