hello everyone. Not doing too good. Got cipro today from dr. for a possible kidney infection. I've looked around here about it and its always together with flagly. Anyone ever take it by itself. I took one and feel a slight stomachache. Does everyone react differently to this pill. If i get d how long do i take it before i go back to dr.

Hello Matty,
Don't worry about the fact you don't have the flagyl with the cipro. This is indicated for intestinal problems but not for every other issues like right now, you could have had other type of antibiotics but it's just that cipro was the one chosen and it's an antibiotic that is fully potent on its own for pyelonephritis.

I guess we all react differently to this pill. I think lots of us tolerate it well enough but I've read some saying that they had issues with the cipro. Then again, it's like with most other drug, some people are allergic and others can take them down as if it were water.

My advise would be to try contact your doctor if your are having much D from it. I guess your doctor may suggest to continue if its tolerable as these broad spectrum antibiotics should not be stopped unless there is a major problem with them.

I did not get Flagyl with the Cipro. However, make sure to read the interactions for Cipro and be careful. It was very tough on me, but everyone is different. I beefed up on probiotics right after taking it. Good luck!

make sure you drink plenty of fluids with it, the Cipro will fight the infection and get rid of any bacteria ... you want to drink water, apple juice, and maybe some ginger ale (check with your DR first on the Ginger Ale)

you will sweat a lot, and pee a lot... this is your body getting rid of the infection and bacteria, keep us posted.

thanks for replies. I took so far 3 already and some slight nausea. I hope that's all happens as i have to make a 5hr bus ride tomorrow. I am taking the probiotics 2 hrs after a pill and eating some yogurt. Thanks everyone, you learn so much here.

I've been on cipro for years with relatively few ill effects. I'm usually on 500mgs every other day for intestinal bacteria. It does wonders to keep me from filling up with gas. Right now I'm on a two week course of 1000mgs a day for a persistent UTI. I have a history of kidney disease. Levaquin is a similar drug that has much success with UTIs an Disney infections in folks with IBD.

Be sure to read the cipro label in regard to spacing your calcium and milk-based products several hours away from taking the cipro. Certain vitamins, calcium and other minerals can interfere with the absorption of cipro.

Cipro used to really dry me out but now, bc of my tendency for dehydration, I am constantly drinking. Water that is.

thanks, i'm finally done them 2 days ago. But i think i took them for nothing because my urine test came back negative and i still took them.
