Had my upper and lower scopes done today only to wake up to them telling me my colon, stomach, and esophagus were fine....WTF...so that of course crushed me. I've been miserable for the last 6 months. I've felt like death warmed over on my good days...dealt with a husband telling me I'm faking the whole time...waited almost 3 months for my scope appt...so yea needless to say I was a little upset. I'm a CNA myself so I've dealt with plenty of nasty patients, so I tried my best to not be rude to the hospital staff that helped me out but seriously excuse me if I wasn't exactly up to casually chatting about the weather while waiting for my ride.

Ride home didn't go any better...I got more and more upset and then my husband started his crap again. He told me a few weeks ago that if my scopes were clean he was leaving me...he is apparently that convinced that you can fake 6 months worth of diarrhea, abd pain, 4 trips to the ER in so much pain I can't walk...yea according to him that was all to keep from having to work...yea let me tell ya...

My GI was suspecting Crohn's prior to this. My GI didn't do the scope one of his partners did so he took biopsies from everywhere they looked and said we should know by Friday if there's cellular inflammation but none was visible. Most of my symptoms fit small bowel Crohn's which from what I understand is the hardest to see with upper EGD and Colonoscopy...I guess what I need is someone to tell me this will all still be ok...

I needed my husband the most but once we got home he started being mean, accusing me of just being lazy and or crazy, and got in the car and left me.

So now I'm a REAL mess...can this still be Crohn's?? What's usually next from here? Any input here would help...I'm a mess

Your husband is very unsympathetic, very unnecessary when you have been so poorly. I don't have an answer but then I had a scope which couldn't find 3 strictures that showed up on a CT scan and I don't understand that either! It might be that inflammation has calmed down in the 3 months waiting for the scopes. I had a flare at Xmas but by the time of the scope just a couple of very small ulcers. I am so sorry, I was absolutely devastated last week when they couldn't find the strictures so I do understand.

MRE or pill cam to check for small bowel. You are correct that upper and lower scopes would not be able to reach small bowel. My son had MRE in December which showed inflammation in small bowels. Scopes done in February prior to that were clean. But biopsies could also show microscopic inflammation. Hope you get some answers soon and really sorry about your husband.

I really feel for you :-( Hopefully your GI will go for an imaging test of some sort. I went into hospital tests for an intestinal fistula that my IBD nurse and I suspected had opened up again. I had a clear colonoscopy but the MRI showed up the fistula, so they decided surgery was my best option. After the op though, the surgeon told me that they'd found severe inflammation in my TI which hadn't shown up in the scope, MRI and my CRP wasn't raised.
I am also really sorry about your husband's attitude. This must be so stressful for you. I wonder if there might be an IBD support group in your area? You could check it out on the Net.

I am so sorry. Your husband does not sound like a very nice person. Maybe you would be better off without him if he is treating you that way. I am so sorry. I mean how can one fake Diarrhea and severe pain?? Is he serious? Gosh, that is just so terrible. Did your GI give you anything to try and ease your symptoms at all at least until they can figure out what is going on? My heart goes out to you. Sending ))Big(( hugs your way...

Unfortunately the GIs response was wait for the biopsies to come back. My husband was the one that talked to the GI and seeing as how he decided to move out today, I'm gona have to call the office in the morning to be sure there wasn't anything I needed to know. He is so convinced I'm faking that he was already being mean to me by the time I woke up in recovery because the doc had given him the papers and results. He actually told me a few weeks ago if my scopes were clear I was obviously faking and he was leaving me. Apparently he meant it...what hurts the most is that he just sat with me in the ER a few days ago telling me how he hated to see me hurt so bad and he wished he could take it all away...then this...I'm just lost and confused now...at home AND over my GI issues -.-

It it hard to hear but the next step is the biopsies results.

Maybe questions for the GI?

What is the next step if the biopsies are clear?
How long will it take for results?

Thinking of you.:ghug:

Everyone is right. You need to wait for the result of the biopsies and take it from there. I can't believe your husband would leave you like this. I am appalled by his behaviour.

Awe, I am so sorry. I guess you have to wait for the biopsy results. Your husbands actions are appalling. How he could walk out on you when you are down and sick is beyond me. My heart really breaks for you. I mean he is showing you his true colors. I would confront him and ask him how is it he can claim he loves you when he wont even trust you and is calling you a liar. I mean think about it, if the tables were turned and he was sick, you would never do this to him. A person would not do this to someone they love. I am so sorry. Sending Hugs your way....

First sorry about your husband, that is awful. If he can't handle it all in the long run you are better off in my opinion, now you can concentrate on you.
I agree with everyone wait on biopsies and go from there. I have Crohn's and before my first surgery my colonscopy showed clear and when the doctor told me I was like schedule me something else now. So we did a small bowel follow through and they found a fistula, stricture and abscess. Good luck and keep going you will figure it out.

Shells just out of curiosity how long had you been having symptoms before they did the small bowel thing? I've really only had severe symptoms for 6 months. That's a long time to be miserable but I'm wondering if maybe it hasn't been long enough to cause visible damage.

My first surgery was in 2003 and I had been on meds for over a year, I had my second daughter July of 2001 and was in remission then but came out of remission shortly after her birth. Anyway when the fistula started hurting it was like boom, not sure how long it was there but it wasn't there when I had my daughter. Everyone is so different with this disease and personally I have had two surgeries and things were different between them. Also the second was 10 years later. I still had pain that first time and knew I needed to figure it out. I got lucky and my body let me know to keep trying to figure it out. Hope you feel better soon.

Before the colonscopy I had worst pain for a few days in got colonscopy the end of that week. The small bowel follow through was a week later. Not all things show up in a colonscopy and there are more tests you can try to be sure. There is endoscopic MRI, and small bowel follow through. Your doctor should know by your symptoms what to try next and if not find another doctor.
