Cold/Heat?

My 16 year old son who was diagnosed this last April has extreme sensitivities to cold and heat. Sometimes he will dress so warmly when it is 110 here in Sacramento. He seems to be cold all the time. Then on a day like today he will go for a short walk when it is about 90 degrees and nearly collapse from heat exhaustion.

Any advice is welcome!

I'd talk to your GI about it. Anecdotally, other parents will tell you their kids have had issues with temperature too, including mine.

My daughter was cold all the time but that had to do with being severely underweight. Now that she has gained weight she is better.

But she does get low grade fevers when she is flaring, which make her freezing as the fever goes up (to about 100.4 F) and hot as it comes down.

She is also not great at tolerating hot temperatures if she's already not feeling well.

Having his thyroid checked isn't a bad idea.
