colitis pentasa - side effects?

I was diagnosed with UC about 1.5 years ago. I'm 23 years old. It was rough for the first few months and I was off and on for about half a year. For about the last year, I have been in a state of remission and have had no real flare ups.

There has been something going on for about the last year that I can't really figure out. I'm on 6mp and 6 500mg of pentasa. Usually around 5pm close to dinner time, I feel like I start to "loose it" almost every day. I don't know if it's a need for caffiene or a need to eat and then take the pentasa. When I say loose it, I mean I feel kind of out of it, in terms of being slighly light headed and not not able to think as quickly as I normally do. This can go on for a few hours especially if I don't eat and take the pills at a certain time.

The weird thing is, is that my research shows there is real no side effects of pentasa relating to this. I am wondering if anyone has similar experiences or knows anything about this. Maybe I need to find some sort of heatlh engery drink for later in the afternoon. Any insight would be appreciated because i'd like to figure this out before I start working next year since that could get in the way of my work. It's almost as if I have to strategically plan towards the later time in the day and can't really last til 6:30pm without eating and taking the pills. Also I have a small snack with the pills and eat a full meal later, you end up burping nonstop/becoming real full.

What's your iron levels like? Just asking.

I'm on Asacol and have similar side effects.

i was thinking blood sugar levels?

you dont have to be a full on diabetic for weird blood levels to affect you like that.

Thanks for the replies. When I have the blood tests every few months, they always have been coming back normal. Also, the docotor mentioned it could have been sugar levels the one time I brought this up and after the tests he said I was fine. I started taking a mult vitamin with iron so maybe that will help, we'll see.
