Colitis + period

Is it just me or does your colitis feel a million times worse on your period? Even when I feel symptom free (but still technically in a flare or the very end of one) my period hits and I can almost feel my inflammation and feel as much bloating as a beached whale carcass!!

I always thought it was a bit worse. I've had an IUD for quite a while now, so no periods for me at the moment!

My CD is so much worse at that time of the month

I think it's due to the hormonal changes in the body.

Yes, hormones can affect IBD and intensify symptoms during your period. It's very common. Are you on birth control? If not, it might help, as it regulates your hormone levels. I have a lot of issues during my period if I'm off birth control (although it seems to be caused primarily by endometriosis) but no issues while taking it.
