colitis..possible crohn's

My name is Lindsey and like many others I have been lurking the forum for about a week now and decided it was finally time to say hi!
I am 24 and have been dealing with stomach issues for 4 years now. Every other time I had been to the doctor they blew it off as hemroids and/or a stomach virus. It wasn't until i moved to a new city (for work) found a new general practitioner and explained everything to him! What a God send he is!!! He refered me to the GI specialist immediately thinking possibly celiac sprue. Underwent a colonoscopy a couple weeks after that and got the diagnosis of Colitis. The GI put me on Asacol and I went back to see him a couple weeks ago for my follow up post colonoscopy. I'm still not feel well at all. VERY bloated and gassy, nauseated, and somedays feel so exhausted I can't even get out of bed. He thinks it may possibly be crohn's and not just colitis. He ordered an upper GI and I had that performed last friday. I don't go back to see the GI and get the results till the middle/end of june! Seems like an eternity.
I am in the process now of finding those foods that may trigger my upset belly. Does anyone have any good tips how to do this? Do I fast for a day then start introducing foods? What foods do I start with first?
I have found a lot of comfort in this forum and my prayers are with you all every night. It definitely feels good to know I'm not alone with this although many days I feel like i'm so isolated and no one understands. ( like my bf who i had to very sternly ask to get out of the bathroom this morning...I don't care if you "just need to finish shaving"...I'm about to explode if you don't get outta here! :) I just wonder if people will ever understand? When i gotta go...i gotta go!!!)
Anyway that's about all...like i said just wanted to say hello!

Hi Lindsey, and welcome. This is truly a wonderful forum. I joined last fall and have found lots of helpful advice and support.

As to your questions, I tried a food diary. Some on here are more religious about it than others. Just note what you eat and how you feel. Over time, you'll figure out what sets you off or makes you feel good. We each have our own comfort foods and some even follow strict diets, like SCD.

Hi, Lindsey. Welcome to the forum! I'm pretty much a lurker myself, only posting a handful of messages so far. Everyone seems friendly and understanding here.
Right now, everything I eat just goes right through me, so I'm also trying to keep track of what I eat.
Keep us posted!
