Hi I have a query in relation to what doctors are looking for when diagnosing IBD. In the last few months I have been experiencing diaorhea, stomach pains and have lost weight. I had a ct scan that showed inflammation of the colon and and had a colonoscopy last week. The nurse informed me that 'erythemas' was found on my colon. I am confused, and slightly concerned. Are these signs of Crohn's or colitis that are found in colonoscopy and CT?

I would strongly advise getting a doctor (a specialist such as a Gastroenterologist, if possible) to look at those test results and interpret them for you.

they mean red patches or sore patches.
they saw no ulcers or bleeding which is a relief.
did they take biopsies?

Yes they took eight biopsies, and the consultant i am under is a colorectal surgeon. Im presuming that depending on results my consultant will then liaise with the GI to see if i would need to see a GI. Are these 'sores' and 'patches' symptomatic of IBD?
