I'm drinking this stuff because I have my Colonoscopy tomorrow. I just want to know how long I'm going to be going to the bathroom?

For about a half hour after you finish the prep, at least for me. It goes through you quick as can be.

possibly a couple of hours maybe more it's rotten and no easy way to get through it good luck

i don't think so as it's red and solid i never knew what i was allowed so i always ate nothing

I think everyone's a little different when it comes to prep, so it's really hard to say. Personally, I did the Gatorade & Miralax prep (not recommended as it made me VERY dehydrated to the point where my vision went blurry, it was scary and I needed IV fluids prior to my scope). I just kept going and going long after I had finished drinking the stuff, and I had to get up a couple of times during the night to go, too. I vomited at one point as well. It was not a pleasant experience to say the least. Prep is the worst part of the whole thing. The good news is, once you're done with prep, it's smooth sailing from there! They'll give you nice drugs and you won't remember a thing and will feel like you've had a nice nap. When you wake up, you should feel pretty good - and they pump air into your colon during the scope, so once you wake up they encourage you to fart (and believe me, you will fart a lot but it's kind of funny because everyone in the recovery room is farting like they haven't a care in the world! :p ). And then when it's all over, you get to eat again which is really nice! So yeah, just get through the prep as best as you can and it's all downhill from there. Good luck with the scope!

No, don't eat watermelon. The closest thing you're allowed to solid food is jell-o (no red or purple flavors, I stuck with pina colada as that was really light yellow color - anything reddish might appear to be blood in the digestive tract so no red jell-o nor red drinks). You should be able to have clear broth, water of course, clear sodas, ginger ale, clear sports drinks, etc. I think light-colored teas were also allowed when I did prep.

Thank you. I will not eat it. I will just stick to the 7up and jello. I'm used to going alot so that does not worry me. Lately, I have been worried that I have a bowel obstruction because I was going very little. I don't want to drink this stuff and be all plugged up.

I have heard others on the forum say that when they had partial obstructions, they were prescribed prep to help clear it out. So this shouldn't plug you up and should help un-do any partial blockages you may have. Good luck tomorrow!

Thank you everyone. I'm glad I will be asleep. I just hope that they find something that will give me a diagnosis. My girlfriend actually asked me yesterday if I was doing drugs. I would like to tell everyone why I have lost 50 pounds. But I don't have any thing to say at this point.

Well I started my prep at 2pm, by 4pm I was on the loo until 6pm. Then off and on (more so the latter) until 2am. I thought it was like that for everyone lol although I did slightly mess up the timing of pre-prep food.

I had to take 2 litres of prep over 4 hours, and then another litre the next morning (6am, by half past I was on the loo and things finally stopped at 12pm).

The last few times I have gone has been clear but I have felt like I have been passing clumps. I looked in the loo and I saw clear clumps. It looks like cells of skin. Is this normal?

Hi anyone, I hope that the worst of the prep is over and that the procedure goes smoothly, and more importantly provides you with some answers.

I'm going to move this over to the Tests for IBD forum- lots of colonoscopy questions there :)

Feel free to update here or post in the Undiagnosed Club thread to let us know how you get on.

i had my colonoscopy last week id advise you not to eat anything at all thats solid i had ice lollies the day before my procedure as they dissolve into a liquid inside you that might help a little with the hunger it took my mind off of it a little, as for the colonoscopy i was sudated but not knocked out for it its not the most glamourous thing ive been through but to be honest after the initial shock of the camera going in it wasnt as bad as i thought it would be so just really try and relax and i hope it goes well for you.

Good luck
