Hello,

I just had my first colonoscopy today, it says on my report that I have moderate inflammation and ulcers in my terminal ileum. They took some biopsies to that I have to wait for the results so i have to wait a few weeks for an appointment to see my consultant to talk through everything properly.

I'm quite new to Crohns (only diagnosed a few weeks ago) does anyone know what they usually do when there are ulcers present?
I'm on pred and pentasa at the moment but still have pain everyday.

Do you reckon they'll try me on something else or do they let ulcers sort of run there course?

Sorry if i sound a bit silly just looking for some advice really!

Rachel

I'm glad you posted this I also had colonoscopy last week that showed ulcers at the resection site (TI also) and I too am waiting to see the consultant to get the results, here's hoping they're just innocent and not up too anything bad like active crohn's!!!

I'm currently not on any meds but have a sneaky feeling thats about to change. I have been on pred and pentasa in the past. I'm not in a lot of pain but never really have been I get sudden waves of acute painful cramps but short lived and I have a grumbling dull pain in my RLQ but not all the time. What level is your pain if you don't mind me asking and do you have any other symptoms?

You don't sound silly by the way you have to ask these questions to get answers I'm still in denial that I have crohn's even though I've had a resection that 100% confirmed it!!! I live in hope!!!

Hi Archie, thanks for the response :)

My pains are usually cramps that can be quite bad and make me curl up into a ball, sometimes they come and go in waves and other times it can last for hours on end.
I've also got this new stabby pain right where my appendix scar is which i think is also where the TI is (- i might be wrong here!). I still have the usual extreme tiredness and 'under the weather' feeling. My first week on pred was amazing, no pain or anything but it's all come back again now booo!

Rachel.

boo indeed yes those symptoms sound very familiar and yes your appendix and TI are in the same location. I'm getting a little tired but again nothing serious except since the colonoscopy I feel great!!! I've had loads of energy so obviously the clear out did me good ha ha. Last yr I had very severe inflammation, an abscess and a perforated bowel hence the resection but prior to this I had never had any real issues. So i'm kindof hoping I only have it mild now. Good luck with your results and hope you feel better soon.

I just had a colonoscopy and biopsy's that were taken for testing. Both results came back showing inflammation of my colon. My doctor said he cannot diagnose Crohn's disease. I am frustrated because I have all the classic symptoms and GERD (acid reflux) was ruled out and the treatment for GERD didn't work anyway. My symptoms are:

bloody stools
abdominal cramps
nausea
eye problems
rectal bleeding
no appetite

Any advice? I am going to a different GI doctor tomorrow to get a 2nd opinion....

Hi Rachel, I would like to think they will perhaps give you something to sort the ulcers out? How long have you been on the pred and pentesa? I would have thought if they were fully doing their job you wouldn't have inflammation, especially with the pred. I think they may have to move to something a bit stronger when it comes to long term treatment.
