Hi everyone,

I have a few questions. As I've mentioned before, I'd had IBS symptoms for years but was never diagnosed with Crohn's or anything else. Recently, I had a strange skin lesion and my dermatologist recommended that I see a GI and get tested for Crohn's. I had my colonoscopy on Wednesday and the doctor said it looked absolutely normal.

Here are my questions: has anyone ever been diagnosed with Crohn's after having a normal colonoscopy? I haven't gotten the biopsies back yet but my doctor suspects that they will be normal. She wants to me to come in next week for a small bowel xray. I don't really want to go but I guess I need to. Basically, I'm asking how likely it would be that my colon would be normal but the xray would show something?

Thanks!

Just posted complications of a scope in another thread and I think this part may pertain to you.

# Although colonoscopy is the best test to examine the colon, it is possible for even the most skilled doctors to miss or overlook an abnormal area in the colon.

It's possible that the x-ray will show something. Better to be safe than sorry. Good luck!

A colonoscopy can only look at the colon and the end of your small intestine. I guess they are now checking the rest of your digestive system. So you could still have Crohn's in a different part.
