Good luck with the prep and your scope.

Consider it a necessary evil... and hopefully you get a good report.

I personally was told to take Gatorade and Miralax and a few other OTCs that wasn't *too* bad. If you have another colonoscopy in the future, maybe ask your doctor if it would be ok to go that route and for specific doses of what to take?

Anyway, best of luck with the colonoscopy!

*hugs*

I hate prep, too. In the past, I have used golytely, which is just awful. I couldn't keep it down. But most recently, I used the Miralax & Gatorade prep. Miralax is an over the counter powder laxative. You mix an entire bottle into a 64 oz. Gatorade (lemon-lime is best, obviously, you can't use a red flavor), and you can't taste a thing. You just taste the Gatorade! It goes down so easy. But, it sure does work. However, it has made me (and a few others on the forum) a bit dehydrated. But I'd take it any day over any other prep in a heartbeat.

Personally my GI doesn't give me any prep info because he knows I'll get cleaned out and be ready for him.

I had my colonoscopy on Monday - and am in excruciating pain right now - but it was fairly easy.

I took a couple of OTC laxative pills, then at about 9pm (scoping scheduled for 7:30am) I drank a bottle of citrate of magnesia. I was all set and raring to go when I got there.

I actually had a GI 'break up' with me because I refused to do the prep the way they demanded. Didn't matter that I went into shock after a couple sips of miralax. They said it was impossible and I was lying to them. Well, when I couldn't breathe, was covered in red welts, my entire body bright red and and I had the shakes so bad I couldn't function, that tells me that I'm not putting any more miralax in my body - ever.

Luckily I found my GI who understands that I know my body better than anyone else. He knows that I send trackers - sometimes a couple pieces of corn or something small that comes out the way it goes in - and knows that my system is usually about four hours from start to finish, so I can flush out pretty quickly.

The biggest thing is to know your body and know how it works. Also, if you decide to go the citrate of magnesia route, don't use the cherry flavor as it's bright red.

You poor thing, Klean-Prep is horrid. Could you maybe contact your Hospital and see if they have an alternative for you?
I got mine down with a straw and fruit squash but it was very hard.
(((hugs)))
