Hey everyone, its been a few years since I posted here. I had my first really bad flare about three years ago, and after 6 miserable months and a resection surgery, I had been in complete remission. Now things are starting to go downhill again. My doctor has me starting remicade infusions next week, and entocort today. Does anyone know what I should expect?

Remicade worked wonders for me for several years. Never been on Entocort.

Hope you can get back into remission soon.

Good luck with Remi...hope it works for you...flares are miserable :( Hobo...hoW HAve you been feeling? The meds working? Please say yes!! Sue

Well, Im going back to the pharmacy to pick up the entocort in about 2 hours, so hopefully Ill be feeling better tomorrow. Luckily, I had decided to go see my GI when things were just starting to go downhill, so Im nowhere near as miserable now as I could have been. It still sucks though lol

I have been on Remicade since the Summer. I started it 6 months post-op after a resection too. It seems to be doing great. I still have diarrhea, but it is from the resection and gallbladder surgery I had.......Check out the Remicade club thread. There is a ton of info regarding personal experience in it. Good luck.

I feel fine, outside of minor Prednisone side effects. I dropped another 10mg on the Pred today.

Probably get a better idea of how the new meds are working once I am off the Pred. for a bit.

Hey there! I've been on Entocort before (they use it rather than using prednisone as it is a more topical type steroid that is supposed to work inside your gut rather than giving you the all over the body side effects). It worked ok I think - not has good as pred - but not as many side effects either. I have been on Remicade for over 6 years and it has been great for me! I am having issues with a skin rash that developed about 6 months ago that I can't seem to get rid of (they attribute it to the Remicade), but other than that- no real side effects to speak of. I honestly think that if you start Remi and actually have a response to it (some don't) that it will give you a good possibility of going into remission or close to it. I will hope that for you!!

I'm not on Remicade, but on Humira which work similar, I think. I haven't had any bad side effects with it, but I also haven't noticed it really bring down the inflammation either... might take a bit longer. Like Peaches said, Entocort has less side effects than Prednisone. Entocort worked right away for me and started decreasing my pain and the bloody diarrhea, but my doc said it wasn't strong enough on its own for my case.

Entocort didn't really work for me (tried it for about a year with little or no relief) and then I was switched onto the Remicade which was great for me for several years.
I started to feel better about 2 days after my very first Remicade infusion, expect good things!

Thanks for the support...Im really excited to see if these meds help. Unfortunately, the pharmacy had to special order the entocort, so I wont get to start it until tomorrow. Ill let you guys know how it goes
