Hi I am 38 yrs old and last year was diagnosed with graves disease. This is after having to research for 4 months while my heart was palpitating pulse was racing and I was acting like I was on speed. I finally was led to a hyperthyroid page like this one and learned about tsh free t3 and free t4 blood tests. went to doc and demanded these tests where I was insanely high on the t3 and t4 tsh was normal range. I was sent to specialist where I took meds for 1 1/2 years and then as fast as it came on it went into remission this was 6 months ago. At the beginning of this my stomach went nuts. Almost every time I would eat within an hour I would get these insane stomach aches followed by diarrhea. These stomach aches are intense pain. An alien running through my stomach and bowels is best to describe it. I passed a kidney stone 6 months ago and the pain from that is about equal to the pain these stomach aches get at the end. I fear eating for the consequence could be intense pain. Only passed out from this so far 2xs but I also, at the end of the stomach pain get so hot I feel like I 'm going to spontaneous explode. As fast as the stomach pain starts after I pass everything out it ends. As the stomach pain starts my belly swells up like a balloon. They last anywhere from 1-4 hours. Again I am having to gain knowledge to face a new doctor that I have seen 3 times about this and wont do any blood work or stool samples. The doctor says its just acid in my stomach. I have been researching my signs and symptoms trying to figure out what this could be and Crohn's along with ulcerative colitis and intestinal ischemia fit into my symptoms. Is there any easy tests to find out which one, if any, I have. With hyperthyroidism is it more likely that I could also have one of these? Thank you very much for this website! Knowledge is power! Forgot to add that I take larazapam Only as needed for anxiety (maybe 2xs a week) and a B complex and calcium for blood work said I had deficiencies in those vitamins.

Hi Krizma and welcome!

1. I would request a referral to a gastroenterologist (GI).

2. You mentioned that you take a B complex vitamin. Which specific B vitamins were you deficient in? This is important.

There are a lot of various tests that can be conducted, but the next logical step is to be seen by the GI for an evaluation.

Again, welcome. I hope you keep us updated as to your progress.

Hi Krizma. Welcome to the forum.

I know of at least one person here who has Graves. A gal from Florida who also has Crohn's. I know that there are a lot of inter-related autoimmune diseases, so it's not impossible that you have IBD. I agree with David about seeing a specialist. Your symptoms sound like it could very well be IBD.

In the meantime, make yourself at home here. Join our Undiagnosed Club if you'd like. http://www.crohnsforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=75 You can meet others here who are in similar situations to yours.

Welcome, again. I'm glad you joined us. Keep us posted.

Hi Krizma and welcome! I agree with my friends above - it's time to see a GI. Unfortunately, it may take some time and numerous tests to really figure out what's going on. My issues started in July 2010, and I am still in limbo. It won't be easy, but you must push through to get to the bottom of things.

Good luck and keep us posted!

I am going back to my normal doctor tomorrow and I will be asking for a copy of all my medical records from there. I have a pretty intense scared up belly. I have had 2 groin hernias and an umbilical hernia when i was about 4. Unfortunately the medical records were destroyed. I also have mesh in my tummy causing my hysterectomy to be a little complicated. I have no idea which vitamin b I am deficient in. All I know is 6 months ago I had to go into urgent care to pass a size 5 kidney stone and no one could figure out where it came from was a calcium kidney stone. I also went in a long time ago for this problem. I had blood in stool and white blood count was too high. They did a colonoscopy and then I went normal and that was the end of that. I was young, 24-26, and they said if its not broke anymore then don't fix it. I am trying to see if they still have records from when I went in before. You know when you get use to the problem your that becomes your body's normal. They ask me if I have a belly ache but I have had it so long that the little pain no longer hurts its the intense pain that I know there has to be a problem. I am waiting for a referral to a GI after demanding my family pract. to send me to one.
