I decided to start this poll because I am leaning towards Humira. I am starting to feel a little less scared about Humira's side effects but just wanted to get an idea what people have experienced and if you still consider it worth the risks.

Thanks in Advance!

I was soooo worried about starting Humira, I actually put it off for a year. I ended up giving in, however, because I would get so sick every few months and was on a lot of pred. I started Humira in Feb of 2010, and have been in remission ever since, I was able to wean off the pred and now have maybe 2-3 days a month where I experience symptoms, instead of every single day. I would have 20-30 BM's a day before Humira. The only side effects I have noticed so far with Humira is injection site reactions, and perhaps a bit more sensitive to the sun. I hope it works out for you, whatever you decide!

The only reactions I experience with Humira are headaches and flu like symptoms for a day, if that. It's why I take it at night before I go to bed so I can sleep it off. I know the potential risks can be scary but with me, I didn't really have a choice. I was in really bad shape having a brush with death. Without it, I'm in agonizing pain and I look like a victim of a concentration camp. With it, I at least have a shot at a normal life.

I'm basically a huge fan of humira. i was terrified of it but it's given me such wonderful remission for the past 6 months sometimes i forget i have crohn's! but really, i do get the swelled injection site for a day or 2 but nothing else really. give it a shot! [pun intended :D]

Headaches mother effing huge headaches which happen about twice a week and I cannot even think straight. Other than that I bruise easily but I bruised easily before diagnosis, I have hair on my face too, I dont know if it is Humira related or age related but I am slowly becoming the beard lady

But I am also almost symptom free, I gained weight and have more strength to keep me through the day. Changed my mind? no Suggest Humira? yes

The day after I have my shot I feel like hell, headache, tired, achey...
I do bruise more easily than I used to, being a full-time klutz doesn't help that one :)
When I was first on Humira, I was also on Imuran, I got strep multiple times, a MRSA skin infection, pneumonia twice and constant UTI's. They took me off the Imuran and I have had a lot fewer problems. My immune system was so suppressed I would catch anything that came along.

You missed an option off your list of side effects: None.

And that's me :)

Obviously we're all different, so that's not to say you won't experience any. It's just it's natural to focus on what bad things might happen (that's me all over so I can empathise!), and not on what might not. I'm aware that my problem-free experience of the drug makes this easy for me to say, but I'd say give it a go if you feel you need something more to manage your disease. It's the only way to find out - and if it doesn't agree with you, you can always stop taking it.

Other side effects...extreme fatigue.
It only seems to last for a few days after the injection.

No fatigue when I'm on a high dose of prednisone.

I beleive I sunburn a bit easier than before Humira. That is my only side effect. I have been on it for 6 weeks and have not yet acheived complete remission, but I am alot closer to it than before. The doc is having me gradually back off of my other meds that control the 'D'. So far so good. No injection site reactions, no flu like symptoms, no fatigue, etc..
