I have crohns, newly diagnosed, apparantly it progressed from Colitis which I have had since I was about 23 (currently 33). My specialist has suggested Imuran, as Asacol and Salofalk aren't working for me. I'm looking for info on the efficacy of Imuran, is this a good drug??

It's hard to say. I don't know what I'd be like without it.

I have extensive scarring through my large intestine, so I tend to have problems even when I'm in remission.

As I've said, it did keep me in remission for a few years, and as I'd been fighting for a good 6 or 7 to get there, I was very happy about it.

Thanx

Thanx for your reply Creepylurker, I guess remission for any amount of time is a blessing. Hope things go well with you.

imuran got me into remission for about 4 months but then seemed to stop working. im still on it now but alongside remicade which seems to be the drug that is really helping the crohn's. it worked quite quickly for me but i was disappointed by how soon i was feeling ill again, although this is of course different for everyone.

I was on Imuran for 3 months without any success, the side effects were bad for me insomuch as the fatigue and lowered immune system basically kept me home bound. I know others have had success but I didn't have any unfortunately.
