what does constipation look like on X-rays???
DS had to have abdominal X-rays today.
not sure whether it is or isnt constipation.
I am sure the doc will tell us in the am

but....
I am impatient.:ybatty:

anyone???
no contrast but almost everything was white????:sign0085:

Sorry no help here. At our church there is a time called "Prayer for the People" The Pastor does some general prayers then names people in the congregation then he stops and we can speak people's names out loud. Imagine how silly I sounded praying for Little Penguin....I didn't care...that boy needs all the help he can get.

MLP, I once copied a link to a medical imaging textbook (or section of), it was actually quite 'readable' (with pics and all ). I may have put it in the research 'library', will try to find it...

I have a picture!!! When DS was in the hospital via the ER, they did an x-ray and the GI later pointed all over it and said, "Poop, poop, poop. Lets say good bye to your poop."

How do I post a pic for you? Or PM me and I can email it to you.

When we saw Amys last year it was quite obvious. Her colon had lots of white and you could even see shapes. She was full of it. She hadn't gone for 3 days but I was surprised just how much there was.

I posted the x-ray in my album, my little penguin. Sorry it's sideways. Technical difficulties.

Looks like a lot of white with some darker air pockets here and there. Darkest is gas. Whitest is solids.

Yep, when the colon is loaded with faeces it looks white. Am empty bowel is a greyish/darker in appearance.

Thinking of you and your lad mlp!

Dusty was right :)
Clean out ordered for today
Then we are to update Gi in the am for the plan going forward.
IMO remicade kept the rectum /sigmoid from being inflamed.
Humira was too low so ... Inflamed rectum nothing wants to go out.
Which equals more pressure = more prolapse = more inflammation
Once he got backed up then the nausea and stomach cramping
Give zofran/levsin on top of miralax - counter productive
The cycle continues and gets worse.
Ssooooo
Hopefully clean out will work
We stay on miralax. Humira kicks in so the inflammation can go down
And I move in the castle with clash ;)

It's a big castle so you are welcome to move right in!! Your logic seems sound to me on the cycle. So hopefully the cleanout will be the first step in moving forward!! HUGS for the clean out!

Ha! C has apparently had cough(spending summer with Dad) for a while now. When I got him for the GI appt, I noticed he is coughing up phlegm, GI wants reg doc to investigate.

I'm not sure how compliant C is being with his allergy med, he says he is but I don't know. He also says the cough is coming from his chest not drainage. So he has an appt today...I need a bubble room in my castle!!

Oh man mlp, your poor fella and you too! :ghug:

You are spot on with your analogy and I hope the clean out gets him back to starting with a clean slate.

YAY for bargaining power!

Good luck, I hope all goes well and stays well! :goodluck:

No worries. The castle is a gigantic bubble!

Garden hose enema :hallo3:

Just kidding. Don't worry about it until you get there... It didn't pack in overnight, and it won't come out easy, but it will come out. You may just have to get a little more aggressive...

IT's working like a charm :cool2:

He says his stomach already feels better:ylol:

who knew - I would need to induce D in a crohn's kid
apparently he didnt get that memo

Glad it was getting going! Hope all is well today and his tummy feels alot better with all that out of his body.

Hope he is feeling better and clear out has worked!! Been there a few times!!!

One of J's 'backed up' x-rays

(((hugs))) :ghug:

Yay poo! Time for a swim cheer for pooping....GOOOOOOOOO! I will let you imagine my hands pointing to the end of the pool or arms overhead flapping my hands back and forth to signal kicking.

Lmao CIC too funny
Still nausea and stomach cramping but I assume that's from the clean out
He seems happier
Waiting for further instructions from the Gi

Constipation have question, please advise

I just went to urgent care appointment today with my GI, I am jamm packed when he reviewed my X-ray, told me i have to do an enema. I have never had to do this! I am scared!!!!!! Any advice? What if I can't keep it in, what do I do?

Thank you!!!!!!

Michele

You're supposed to hold it as long as you can, I believe, but when DS had one in the hospital, he only lasted 3 minutes before it all came out.

Thank you dusty, I am using fleet. I couldn't hold it in the first few, but now have been able to hold it in for 1min 30sec and had more results! Is it normal for me to have massive cramps?

Xo
Michele

Hey Michele,

Oh yes, trying to hold in a fleet enema can be an art! :eek2: Well done on your improved holding in powers!

They are a quite strong saline solution so work by osmotic effect, they draw fluid out of the body and into the bowel and thereby softening the faecal matter already present. You will find that most of the preparations designed to evacuate the bowel in enema form will cause cramping and for some it can be severe. :(
