Hi,
I finished my second 10 week course of pred last week and I'm on 6mp aswell. I have been taking 6mp for 11 weeks now and think its working as Ive not had any d (yet) since Ive come off the steroids.
I have had the worst fatigue the last 2 weeks and now its even worse. I can't seem to do anything, struggle to live my day normally and I'm all bloated and achey. I went to see my Dr yesterday and she suggested I go get some anti depressants off my GP to see me through the next few weeks/months.
She said that they will help me to gain more energy and give my body the chance to adjust to being off the steroids and basically fool my body into thinking its better and give it time to get back to normal.
Im going to see my GP on monday to do this and I really hope it works because at the moment Im just so miserable. I have a 5 yr old and its hard work keeping up with him at the moment.

Has anyone else had these problems and taken anti depressants? I couldn't seem to find anything on the subject in the forum.

Thanks

I just want to feel normal again!

I'm on 6MP and the fatigue is terrible! As I'm trying to work full time, this is no fun indeed! My IBD nurse suggested I split the dose a few weeks ago and it's helped a little. So I take 25mg morning and 25mg at night before I go to bed.

I say its helped, but it's not working 100%. Sometimes I feel like I have a bad flu coming on the fatigue and muscle aches are so bad! What dosage do they have you on? Have they been checking your bloods weekly?

6mp made me feel shattered 24/7.I could not live with that level of fatigue.
My Dr gave me an anti deppressant (Amitriptyline) that drug made it impossible to do anything in the first 4 hours of the day as it made me sooo sleepy.
It did nothing to help with Crohn's either.
I think my Dr was just fed up with me moaning and arguing with him.

I don't see how it will help you cope with 6mp.

Hi thanks for your replies. Im on 50mg a day I never even thought nor was it suggested that it could be the 6mp. I assumed it was the withdrawl from steroids as I had it last time. Ill have to keep an eye on that, if im still fatigued in y weeks when the anti depressants kick in ill go back and have a rethink as I cant live my life like this. Id rather go back to being on the loo 24/7!
They have been checking my blood and that came back fine so im not anemic or anything.
I really hope they work!
