I'm just wondering if anybody has or is treating crohn's and candida together or has any exp with both?

I have had candida for 7 years and have never been able to beat it(tried so many things, anti fungals, diet, special antifungals ect ect) I ALWAYS used to relate all my stomach problems to candida, but within the last 6 months i realised there could of been something else going on. So at present i am being tested for crohn's also which i am 90% sure i have.

Just wondering if anybody can relate, as i honestly feel like i am never going to get better as the last 7 years i have just gotten slowly and slowly worse.

Sorry no experience with this myself have u tried searching Candida on here there may be other posts about it.. failing that im sure someone will be along soon that has some ideas for you!

I don't have any experience with candida, but Sophie's suggestion is a good one. I went ahead and did a search of the forum for you. They're older threads, but reading through these might help.

Candida and Crohn's
Systemic Candida Infection

There are quite a few more, but these seemed the most information-packed.

Hopefully someone with more experience will come along soon. :)

I was diagnosed with moderate Crohn's early Sept 2012. A started the diet Sept 17th and have been really strict on it. I did the intro diet and gradually introduced foods but still have D. I went to a naturopath a little over a month ago and was told to eliminate the honey and fruit, yogurt and cheese for a Candida cleanse due to possible yeast overgrowth. I've been on the SCD diet for almost 4 months and have eliminated the natural sugar for about 3 wks. I still have some D but I have been having a lot more normal bowel movements which is exciting!

I was of course told my specialist that I course diet has nothing to do with it. She wants me to go on 2 months if prednisone as well as on Imran and humira indefinitely. I wanted to see of I could treat my Crohn's naturally whiteout any meds. She agreed to do a colonoscopy mid Feb so I could see if the diet has helped heal or of it got worse. At that point I would have been strictly doing the SCD diet for 5 months. I can keep you posted on my results if you like.

A lot of people believe that overgrowth of candida can cause major gut issues. Gastro western med doctors do NOT believe in this though so you will get no support there. You will have to work with a naturopathic doctor for this.

I have been on some of the yeast free diets, but honestly, it is very hard. I mean my diet is very limited as it is so I cannot eat so much already. There is a product called florastor which you can get over the counter. It is a form of yeast ( a good yeast), that can help crowd out the candida. It also helps to balance the good gut flora. This is something you can try also if you think you have a yeast issue.

Also if you can get a doctor to prescribe to you nystatin or diflucan, these are anti-fungals that can kill off the yeast( though these meds, especially the diflucan can have bad side effects). There are also some yeast cleanses out there that you can try.

I think it can be possible to help crohns naturally for some people. I mean I know of a lady who see's a naprapath doctor who had her on a juicing diet and some other different foods and she is well now and has no issues. When she went to him she was told by her gastro surgeon that she needed her colon removed. Well after working with this naprapath well she is well now. I guess it is possible for some.....
