I have been diagnosed with Crohn's disease, but I have never had diarrhea.
I have had scarring and inflammation show up during colonoscopies. I have crohn's in my Ileum and have had pain before starting prednisone. I am now off of prednisone. Started Humira in July and was told it was the golden medicine for Crohn's. Now after my pain returned, I was told that many patients on Humira also have to take Azathioprine. I just started that tonight!
Are there any others out there that have this type of Crohn's? I feel like most people with Crohn's have diarrhea symptoms and can't relate to me. I am glad I do not have it, but I would like input from person with similar symptoms.

Hi and welcome.

There are a few hear that don't have diarrhea. (I'm not one of them). I hope adding azathioprin to the mix does the job.

I have perianal crohns and terminal ileitis and if anything suffered bouts of constipation. Never really had diarrhea either.

My young daughter has Crohn's limited to her colon at this point, she doesn't have the typical diarrhea either.

She's starting Humira soon.

I hope it works well. Can't do Aza, as she is allergic to it.

Ds has crohns in the rectum sigmoid caecum terminal ileum and duodendum.
No diarrhea just constipation that needs daily miralax.
He had to add Mtx to Humira due to JSPA but the Humira seems to work for his Ibd so far.

Good luck

When I was in flare I always had diarrhea, but I know there's a handful of us on the forum who have Crohn's with constipation as a symptom, instead. Crohn's (and IBD) is an incredibly individualistic autoimmune disorder, and so it really presents differently for everyone! So don't feel too badly that not everyone has the same symptoms as you -- that's actually normal.

I'm a patient who had diarrhea when I was in flare, but I wanted to comment on how you were asking about azathioprine... my Crohn's is bad enough that Humira on its own isn't good enough, so I had to either be on Azathioprine or its sister drug 6mp. Now that I'm on combination therapy with both, I'm safely in remission without any cramps or symptoms!

Terminal ileum Crohn's with constipation here too. I've learned that a long morning coffee of sitting and relaxing helps my bowels move daily. My "morning constitutional", I call it. It helps reduce stress which is a huge trigger for me too! I'm on double-dose Humira too though!

Hi, I have a crohn´s with 7.5mm inner diameter TI stenosis, one 40mm dilated loop, multiple adhesions up to 80cm from small intestine´s end, occasional fistulas (they really can heal!). No diarrhea whatsoever.
GI told me that I am in the 30%-ileal group with typically dry crohn´s. The other groups 30%-colic and 40%-ileocolic usually takes care of their pants cause their colon is irritated by the illness.

Yes I never really had the diarrhea I got badly constaption I didn't have the bloody stools and now I am recovering from having part of my colon and small iliem taken out due to multiple abseses

Since I feel like my guts and Crohn's are on my mind every day, I'm going to start using that term "dry Crohn's" from now on!
