Hi,
New to the forum, first post...
I have had Crohns for 20 yrs., been in remission the last 19 yrs..
Has anyone ever had a flare up and also experienced Prostatitis?
My Crohns is back under control but now just living with the Prostate
issued....

Hi WCC and :welcome:

My son recently had a problem with pain and his urinary system, it resolved itself but the GP thought at one point he may have had Prostatitis. Anyway I did some research and found there is a link between Ileal Crohns and Prostatitis and I would imagine it would have something to do with the ileum laying close to the prostate gland and coming into contact with it when inflamed. I do recall someone a few months back with a similar problem to what you have, flaring, with pelvic pain and ?Prostatitis.

Put Prostatitis into the search and you should find any related posts.

Good luck and I hope you find the answers you need!

Hi and welcome! Wow, 19 years of remission. That is wonderful to hear! What medication do you take?

I don't have any advice regarding Prostatitis, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was linked to Crohn's. Hopefully, someone with some experience will come along with some advice.

LOL - kind of ironic that the first two replies to your post are from FEMALES....but anyway......

Yes, from what I have read (and heard from other males with IBD) these issues can occur, and can resolve when the inflammation in the bowel slows down - like Dusty says, the inflammed bowel puts pressure on places it shouldn't so not only squeezes things it shouldn't, but because it is inflammed it can cause surrounding argans to pick up on that inflammation and become "ill" as well.....

Women don't have a prostate, but we do run into similar issues with our "lady bits" too....lol.

I hope it does resolve for you soon, and is not causing tooo much pain.

Thanks for the replys.....

xJillx, I take Asacol (3) 200 mg tablets twice a day and have since I was first diagnosed. Also take Folic acid, Dicyclomine 10mg once a day, and a Floastor(probiotic)
I am currently taking a two week round a Cipro for my Prostatitis....My stomach does not like antibiotics!!!

Yes, antibiotics are tough on the stomach. You may want to mention that to your GI. Perhaps, he can recommend a probiotic to balance things out.
