Crohn's disease patients at risk of significant diagnostic radiation exposure

CT scans put out lot of radiation. I am reluctant to get any more of these unless there is a real good reason.

I think I read somewhere that Turmeric also prevents damage to the DNA of human cells exposed to radiation?

I would have to look that up to be sure, but maybe a big dose before hand could help.

So i read it...how do we know which xrays and tests are low radiation imaging and what aren't? Hmmph..damned if we do and damned if we don't are we? lol

If you are concerned about radiation, you might want to ask your doc about MRI's...I've had 1 of these, going for my 2nd in a few weeks. My GI said they show you everything you need to know! That's how I was diagnosed, actually. They just use magnets to show them what they need to see. you have to drink similar stuff to barium, but it tastes MUCH better...and comes flavoured!!

Yes. Whenever I went into ER, I had a cT scan. I'll try to ask my GI about MRI's next time I see him.
