My husband was diagnosed with Crohns 9/22/10, he is 58 years old. I think it very odd that a person his age all of a sudden got Crohns. He was diagnosed with it after a bout of Giardia, that also seems suspicious to me. I am wondering if he actually does have Crohns or just residual effects from the Giardia. My question is this, has anyone else out there had any thing like this happen, I need some input. He has had 3 colonoscopies since the dx, and is on Pentasa after being on Entocort for a while.

Spooky,
My understanding of Giardia is limited. However, I do believe it is a parasite that infects the small intestine. It comes from ingesting food stuffs contaminated with fecal matter. Can the docs not do a test to be sure all parasitic infection has been eliminated? That is a lot of colonoscopies to have since September. Is it possible that he had Crohns before & did not have major symptoms? I have heard of that before. Unfortunately, Crohns seems to be an equal opportunity disease.
Keep pushing his doctor for answers. If you can't get the information you want from him/her, find someone else if at all possible.
I wish I could give you concrete answers, I can't though. Good luck to both of you. I think Crohns is just as hard on the spouses as it is on those of us going through it.
Poke around the forum a bit. Some very smart people (not me unfortunately) contribute here.

Hey Spooky:panda-wave-t:
Welcome to CF! I don't really have an answer to your question, but give it some time. There's got to be somebody who will have an answer for you.
I feel for both you and your hubby. This can be a trying disease and I would not wish it on my worst enemy(well...;)). And to be diagnosed at 58 has got to be hard.

Has he ever shown any symptoms that might be related to Crohn's? Any family members with Crohn's?

I hope that someone can provide an answer for you. While you are waiting have a browse around the different subforums. CF is a great support network, an extended family sort of deal.:)
