Crohn's Scholarship

Hey everyone,

I'm fairly new to the forum, and I have really enjoyed chatting with you all and reading everyone's heartbreaking stories. This forum is amazing, and I am so glad that everyone can find the support that they need on here.

So, back in February, I applied for the UCB Crohn's Scholarship. I filled out the application, got recommendations together, and wrote an essay, which included a poem about Crohn's. I thought I might as well give it a shot! College is expensive, and if I could get some financial support from Crohn's, why not? I didn't think that there would be any way for me to actually get chosen. Tons of people apply and they only pick thirty Crohnies per year, nationwide.

Well, yesterday, I got a call, and I GOT IT! I am beyond excited! Finally, something amazing came from all of the pain I went through! This is amazing! They are supposed to send me info in the mail next week, so I will keep you guys posted!

This is where last year's winners are posted. You can read their stories. I am so honored to be a part of this organization. Also, those who are in college should look into applying next year!

Just thought I would thank you all for being so great and strong! Whether you are waiting for a diagnosis, in the middle of a flare, or in a long, happy remission, things will look up! I'd like to think that this will bring you all hope if you are having a particularly difficult day. It will get better, promise!

Wow congrats! I applied for a Crohn's scholarship in Canada and well the guy that won the one in my region started his own charity company so needless to say he got it hahaha.

I actually looked at that myself not that long ago and the deadline had already passed. But I'm so happy for you!!! You'll do great!!

Congrats! I've thought about applying for that a few times, but looking at the previous winners, they all have done things like go through surgeries/hospitalizations, start charities, found clubs, etc. None of which I have done haha so figured it's not really worth applying. Going to college this fall though and hoping to get involved in more Crohn's stuff while there (not involved in any now lol) and then maybe trying for a scholarship then? I should check if you can get it while actually in college... I seem to remember reading you can.
