My boyfriend is in Crohns remission and lately we've been focusing a lot on trying to keep it that way with diet (still on meds with no plans of stopping). He sweats all day at work and gets dehydrated very easily, and unfortunately just is one of those people who has a hard time sipping water all day. Normally he carries around a quart of a work out powder mix, but recently we've become a little weary about that and started brainstorming if there was a super healthy Crohns benefiting concoction we could come up with. I would love any suggestions/tips! We want to start juicing but are saving up for a juicer right now plus not sure it would stay well all day/be practical, so no juicing ideas please.
So far I've come up with the idea of making it a ginger base tea with fresh root, but then just read too much ginger can be bad for Crohns? How much is too much? Is a quart a day five days a week bad?
We've also found that Chia seeds do wonders for him, so I figured whatever we make I could add them in. Probably could sneak some turmeric in there without it being detected.
Any ideas?
Edit: I like the basic idea of this recipe, but would just forgo the fresh fruit to make it a tea and less like a smoothie. Anything I could add?
