I had this test done recently to check for inflammation, of course we all have this done periodically to keep tabs on it lol but I just had surgery last July and was hoping I was in "remission" or at least was not having any inflammation at the moment but my test results say mine is 1.030 and says the standard range is <0.800. Does that mean I have a lot of inflammation? It worries me because after my surgery I was hoping that I wouldn't have any inflammation. But is that even possible? Even when in remission do people with crohn's always have some sort of inflammation when taking a blood test? I'm just so worried, I don't want this disease to come back on me so quick. I was hoping that I would be one of the lucky ones that had surgery and all signs of crohn's went away. Is that crazy to think? lol All I know is that inflammation is what makes strictures and I'm so scared to get problems back in the same spot that I had surgery on. :sign0085:

Hi that doesn't appear too high. My understanding is anywhere between 0-10 is normal and then the higher it gets indicates worse inflammation. Anything over 200 is supposed to represent a very traumatic event eg severe burns / infections etc.

I've had surgery and pre surgery my markers were between 60-90, I also had a perforation and abscess and my CRP was 280. I am currently in remission and last CRP test was 0.5 so to answer your question yes it is possible to have normal range of CRP in remission.

Your CRP can indicate inflammation anywhere in your body, so if your fighting any other bugs it would cause it to rise but not necessarily mean a crohn's flare. It is also an individual thing, they don't always represent what is going on i.e they can be within normal range but you could be having some symptoms of a flare.

The important thing is to know what is normal for yourself. If your feeling symptoms and your CRP is rising then keep an eye on it. Hope this makes some sense.
