Had a pelvic/abdominal CT scan done this past Friday. Drank that yucky white liquid and had tube stickin up ya know where!:eek2: Anyhoo, was quite gassy afterwards and a bit of diarrhea. Yesterday, stomach totally bloated and had some pain, and fatigued more than usual. What the heck is going on? Any of you experience lots of stomach pain after this test!? :ybatty:

Hi Hipster,

I didnt have a CT scan but had a barium follow through where you drink the white gloop and they do a series of x-rays/scans. Had horrendous pain and bloating and exhaustion after it and it took about 4 days for me to get rid of the damned stuff too!

Drank loads of peppermint tea or peppermint water diluted with warm water given to me by the ward nurses (was in hospital at the time it was done).

Hope you are feeling better soon. Thinking of you!

I was bloated after my CT scan, but no pain to speak of. I think the type of Crohn's makes the difference. I never have had a great deal of pain, but seem to be more prone to strictures. My inflammation was isolated to a couple of small areas.

The stuff they give you for a CT scan must be kind of nasty. I did flush out a few parasites afterwards. I was not sure at the time what they were, but since I have learned more about it. If it can kill parasites it may be kind of hard on the intestines in general.

Just my take on it.

Any food allergies? Particularly seafood or shellfish? If you have either, you shouldn't take the typcial white goopy stuff to drink. They should give you a different type, which name escapes my memory at the moment. Surprising considering the times I've had a CT and had to drink the bloody stuff. Anyway, I'm allergic, and known that I had to avoid the typical drink. Had numerous CT's, never had any pain to speak of. Either from the contract material that I drank or the dyes they injected into me. Course, the IV needle wasn't fun.

Kev: no food allergies that I know of but I haven't eaten shellfish in ages! :eek2:

last time I had a scan was 3 yrs ago - I was given this clear metal tasting liquid and that had no effect on me.

probably the white gooey that didn't agree with me. I'm feeling much better today and got results - definitely inflammation going on but nothing else which I'm relieved about. Can only see my GI in early January though. *sigh*

Got my results - inflammation due to Crohn's. Hoping to see my GI next week or else I'll have to wait until my appt on Jan 8th. Lovely.:ybatty:
