Added 600mg of Curcumin to my routine today. It's supposed to be very anti inflammatory and suppresses TNF-a. Anyone with experience and what dosage?

I take it in the form of turmeric, it has a very good safety profile and it's a scavenger for free radicals. turmeric, ginger and boswellia are the only herbs I would ever recommend for crohn atm, since they all have an excellent safety profile, all have the in vitro ability to act as oxidative stress mediators and all one of the safest herbs out there

part of the bad rep herbs get is because people start experimenting with herbs that have a bad safety profile and cause kidney damage, but most mainstream herbs are extremely safe if taken in correct doses

What dosage of turmeric?

300mg, curcumin concentration of turmeric isn't very high though (even though herb brands claim it is, wrongly), I prefer boswellia together with it since I don't know bioavailable the turmeric is, not sure how easily it gets to the blood or intestine, so if you take curcumin alone it's probably fine

Chloe takes bcm 95 curcumin. The gi had wanted her on pentasa along with Ldn but we wanted to see if curcumin would work instead. So far so good.

I'm personally on 1500mg of Tumeric per day. I feel it does help but my wife says it makes my breath smell like death :(

Haha do you sweat more David? I'm afraid it will cause body odor. Eventually I'd like to up the dosage.

I take 2,000 mg of Curcumin right now. Half in the morning with breakfast and the other half with supper.

I have used less and more with no problems.

My wife would also mention any odor problems without reservation.

I, on the other hand, will never comment on her weight, hair style, size of her butt or any other imperfections I might notice.

it helps suppress some symptoms(definitely not all) pretty good and contributes to overall well being, i consume 1/8-1/4 teaspoon as a boiled tea with pepper added which increases its absorption. i find that when i cook on a fairly high heat, the chemicals are released into the water and when i drink it it immediately changes my subjective well being, it could be the pepper that does this as well, as i have never boiled it without the pepper to find out which part does it, but this is what i know from my experiance.

negatives- it will interfere with your absorption of minerals and may make your mucus membranes drier, and might make your stool drier small and firmer as well. on my highest dosage i developed dry mouth dry eyes and was severely constipated and developed my first fissure.
if you take any vitamin supplements do not take them in the same meal as turmeric, it will inhibit there absorption.

my entire conclusion- in low doses turmeric helps and make me feel dramatically better, but has strange side effects interfering with mineral absorption, i am currently phasing out turmeric and going back to synbiotics which had virtually no side effects.
