Hello everyone,

I am sorry for the bother, but thought I will post my previous experience and treatment, it might help others, so here goes. :)
First I will have to state that since having Crohn's I usually have constipation, bloating, weight gain, and normal stool if not with a flare, but because of this incident that changed completely. Also I had my intestine sewn up with a net because of an occurance of rectal prolapse.
Last February, a friend of mine invited me to a tea cafe for a cup of tea. We ended up drinking a freshly brewed Oolong tea with Fermozza. After two hours, I felt weak, my stomach was aching, and I was nauseous. I had to hurry to the bathroom and ended up having fresh blood filled diarrhea. The whole night ended up being me going to the bathroom and continued for days on end. I had a serious flare and diarrhea non stop, so I went to my angelic GI who tried to put me various therapies and diets for the flare and the liquid stool. For months I was using Endocort enemas, started using Metypred/Medrol, then transitioned to Imuran, plus was using a variety of meds to stop the diarrhea. I lived on bananas, chicken, eggs, and baked potatoes, drinking lots of water; no fruit juice, fruits, veggies, meats, or dairy. Also I was becoming so malnourished and lacked nutrients from the constant diarrhea to the point that my kidneys and liver failed a couple of times, leading me to have edema.Plus I had to drink Ensure/ Nutridrinks to gain back the vitamins and nutrients I lost. I was also loosing so much blood that I had to have iron infusion ivs and injections every day. It was a living hell and I was a walking zombie, just living to use the bathroom every minute. To make things all the better, my prolapse came back from the consistent force from the diarrhea, pressuring my intestine to come out. The net even twisted around my intestine, though I was lucky to have surgery in time to fix that.
Anyway, after months of suffering, my doctor could not find any better options and suggested I go to a psychologist friend of hers who can maybe treat my problem. The psych. tried a few things, but found a medicine that is rarely used, but is usually effective. Its a special injection called Risperdal Consta, comes in a red cooler bag and is inserted into the buttocks. It is used to calm down the nerves in the body. I get the injection every other week once, and since I have been getting it, it literally stopped the diarrhea and I have been having normal stool for like half a year now. Supposedly it tranquilizes the nerves in the intestinal tract from overworking and it really does wonders, at least in my case. If you have diarrhea problems, I recommend this highly, though I have to admit getting the needle can be a bit painful, but depends on how fast it is inserted.
Anyway, thank you for reading, sorry for the long post and if I made any errors. Much love and regards to everyone, I hope you all are doing well!<3

kisses, Aya

Hi Aya - Glad these treatments are helping you! I googled and couldn't find anything called Rispelda Consta. I did find "risperdal consta" which is used for bipolar disorder. I'm curious why your doc would presribe this to treat persistent diahrrea instead of a more conventional treatment. Even oral tricyclic anti-depressants would seem less invasive than an injection. Have you ever tried any of the tricyclics?

Hello there,
Thank you so much. Sorry I must have misspelled it, but yes its the "Risperdal contsa." She used it because it is used to calm down the nerves and can do that to the intestinal nerves too. I do not have bipolar thank goodness, but at least this helped the diarrhea. We have tried two types of those I think, but did not work unfortunately.

kisses, Aya
