Hello Everyone!

I though i'd share my story and get some advice on what to do. I'm going to keep it as short as possible.

Basically, at the age of 12, I had swollen lymph nodes in my face. After going to all kinds of doctors, my GI doctor recommended that I get a colonoscopy. They diagnosed me with Crohns disease.

For most of my childhood post-age 6, i always had constipation problems - most likely because i never listened to my parents and ate my vegetables..or at least not a lot of them.

I have an extremely stressful life because of my pushy and strict parents. I am always nervous, just sometimes i'm less or more nervous than usual. I know this is very bad; this also might have caused crohns disease.

Medication i take:

12 Pills of Asacol a day
1 pill of Flagile
Humira injection once a week

Fast forward to this past March:

I'm going to take my drivers license and i'm EXTREMELY NERVOUS. I pass!

The next day i wake up vomiting 3 times. A few hours later i get diarrhea and it's this completely watery type that has bits in it and a brown powder. For the next four months i have to go to the bathroom 8-16 times a day while experiencing this diarrhea, sometimes even burning the skin surrounding my rectum.

Humira helps, but it only covers up the issue.

Last week i went to an alternative medicine doctor and he has me on the following diet:

Breakfast: 2 hard boiled eggs with 12 almonds

Lunch: chicken or steak without any spices, simply cooked...with 12 almonds

Dinner: same as lunch

Now, every 2 days he adds something i can eat to the diet. So far he has added Cucumbers, pumpkin, sweet potato, and zucchini.

I am to take 3000mg of Bee Propolis every day.

THAT'S IT! I cannot eat anything else; I can only drink water.

This diet is supposed to go on for only one month, after this, he says, my symptoms should subside. He says I me even be cured of crohn's disease.

Results after only 6 days: I still have diarrhea, but i only have to go to the bathroom 5 or 6 times a day. I have no pain at all. I feel pretty good other than the fact that I REALLY crave junk food.

What do you guys think?

I really appreciate your comments. :thumright:

Thanks,
Dave

I think that having a healthy, well balanced diet can do nothing but good for anyone.
I also think, anyone who tells you they can "cure" Crohn's disease within a month, or ever, with a diet is a quack quite frankly! Be cautious !

Welcome to the forum and hopefully you continue to take your maintenance meds while you are trying out this diet! It's very important !

best of luck to you :)

I am, except for the Humira, because it "masks" the true problem. The point of this diet is to initially kill and get rid of all the bad germs living in my intestines and then slowly progress into a normal gluten and yeast free nutritious diet. After about another week i should be able to eat many more natural and healthy foods, i guess you could say i'm still in the cleansing stage.

did you stop the Humira under a doctors advice ??

If you didn't I hope you realize that your body will start to build up antibodies to it, and then if you try and take it again at a later date your body could reject it. Is that a chance you really want to take if it was helping you ?

Why do you say it just "masks" the disease ? There is no cure for CD, period. Without treatment your disease will come back, and hopefully, for your sake, not with a vengeance.

I will say it again, you should be very leery and extremely cautious of anyone who tells you they can cure Crohn's !

Hi Dave and Welcome to the forum. I agree with Tracy and would be very cautious as there is no cure for cd or any other IBD. Please be careful, I would hate to see you have bigger problems down the road.
I hope that the diet works for you. I wish you the best of luck with it..

Welcome, David! If you are unwell, a more bland diet will help with symptoms. But you need medication to treat the inflammation. I hope you are in contact with your GI about your treatment and new diet. If not, please reach out to him and discuss your current regimen.
