What with all the D Crohnies have does this not cause lots of dehydration and how can it be handled?

Personally speaking - when I flare up, or even when I do prep, I do get dehydrated very easily. I have had to get IV fluids many times. I try to drink water, herbal tea, gatorade, pedialyte - whatever I can to get my fluids back, but sometimes that just isn't enough and IV fluids are necessary. It sucks but I do usually feel tons better after getting fluids.

My crohn's doesn't make me have diarrhea but I'm constantly struggling to stay properly hydrated. I often wish I could give myself IV fluids at home! I drink coconut water every morning and have to make sure I drink as much water as I can every day.

My husband is the one with the Crohns and he had to be admitted to the hosp once for IV treatment. He was sent home and told to drink as much Pedialite as he could. Well we live in a very small town in Wyoming and I bought up every Pedialite bottle in town....it was not enough so I found a recipe for it on the internet. All I can say is thank heavens for the internet!
