I'm curious if you guys have had any surgeries prior to your Crohn diagnosis?

I've had 2 surgeries to remove the fallopian tubes, one fallopian tube was removed about 4 years ago and the other one 6 months before the Crohn diagnosis.
I'm just wondering if surgeries could compromise our immune system?

all the best,

I had appendicitis and a cyst rupture on my ovary when I was 12 and had surgery to remove both. After that, I was never the same again. My GI thinks that could have shocked my body into the crohn's flaring. Crazy, huh?

I have never had any problems before I had my first operation. With the first fallopian tube, I went into so much pain cause my husband had to call the ambulance. They cut me open straight away. they found one of the tubes twisted and dead. anyhow, I don't have anyone in my family with crohn. strange hey? and all of a sudden I'm having crohn :(

and I've notice something over the last few months. I don't know if it's common between women but in my case I start having Crohn symptoms few days before my period.
I remember before I've been diagosted I was having this kind of discomfort and pain (pain especially during my period) and I've always blamed on the period. strange again..

thanks for reading me :)

Had my appendix removed probably 5 years prior to being diagnosed. Kept going back to dr and ER and took me finally telling my PD I couldn't take it anymore before she sent me to GI dr. Don't think it lead to crohn's, just a misdiagnosis.

Mmm I got put to sleep for stitches in my arm and sholder when I was like 7 but that only because of dogbites, so I guess that doesn't realy count as surgery :/ otherwise nope.

2 c sections just but I never had any bowel issues until after my last child was born. Although I have no gynae issues my crohns was always worse at my TOM.

Age 2 my tear canal was clogged had eye surgery

Age 4 Ear tubes and adenoids out

Age 15 Broken leg 3 hour surgery and nails in my leg

Age 17 Remove the nails

Age 27 first c section

Age 29 second c section

Age 35 Crohns dx During apendectomy

Hi All

I have had 5 bladder ops, 6 laporoscopy's for gynea reasons, ie diagnosis, endometriosis removal many times, sterilisation. Gall bladder removal, Abdominal hysterectomy. 2 benign breast lumps removed, lump under my arm & part of lymph gland removal. C section & 3 wisdom teeth removed (they caused & infection in my Jaw).
I am now supposed to be having a resection for crohns in TI.
Think I have had enough ops now.

Fistulatomy. Wound would not heal for month's before my old GI started doing tests and Prometheus 7 came back positive for Crohn's.

I had my tonsils removed in high school (in 2000 or 2001). A Csection in 2008 another Csection in 2010 . My last surgery was open surgery Aug 2011 and the pathology from the biopsies taken during that surgery led me to my Crohn's diagnosis.

I put no, but I did have my tonsils out when I was about 2. But until I was 18, I was pretty healthy. Then my Crohn's symptoms started.

I did have my tonsils out at age 6, and a break in my elbow set with a pin and a cast at age 5. Other than that, the only surgery I can think of is having my wisdom teeth "dug out" (they had not even broken thru my gums) in my early 20's. I was put under for that as well.

Had my tonsils out and was diagnosed with UC right after that......turned out to be crohns in the end.....

unfortunately WAY to many :(

5 sinus surgery's

exploratory surgery.... 2 times

uterus removed in 1996

3 foot surgery's

one hand surgery

my ovaries removed

2 lymph node surgery's ( removal)

Breast surgery

Gallbladder removed

Then my Ostomy surgery....

So now Total : 18 surgery's for me
