Is there one? My dx is Crohns Colitis. Originally my doctor (who i am in process of leaving due to some really scary bad issues, including a non nurse giving medical advice on a drug that could have killed me due to an allergy and the doctor refusing to return phone calls) said he was writing for entocort, 3mg 3x day. what was called in was uceris, 9mg, 1x day.

Im not sure what if anything the difference is or why one would be prescribed over the other? Im tapering off of prednisone after a month on it which is why we are starting this one since pred and asacol hd were not working to control a rather nasty flare

Entocort and Uceris contain the same steroid (budesonide), but they're coated to release in different parts of the gut - Uceris is released starting in the terminal ileum/colon - Entocort is released earlier.

With Crohn's Colitis, you may be better off with Uceris. I know I was. I have disease from the terminal ileum down, and Entocort (tried it twice) did squat. Uceris? Works as well or better than pred (crazy, right?).

Best of luck!
