Good morning, my kids started school this week which meant getting up an hour earlier. For most people I know it is fine, but for me it has been hard. I have felt the fatigue creeping in the last few nights and last night it won. I crashed on the sofa at 7:30. I was asleep before the kids. Luckily my husband was home to handle things. I am blessed to be married to an ER nurse, so he never gives me a hard time. Heck usually he is making sure I stay on a schedule and take my medicine.

After I went to bed so early last night I was sure I would wake up well rested. Well not so much. Still very tired and very dizzy this morning. This is the second time I have had the dizzy feeling. I just feel off. I do have low BP, but I took it this morning and it was 95/50 which is normal for me.

Has anyone else had dizziness? What do you do for it? I took a zofran to calm the nausea that it was causing. I have eaten in case my blood sugar was low. I am out of ideas. Hubby is at work. He did text and tell me to lay down. Just frustrated. I am on Remicade. Had my 4th infusion 8 days ago.

Thank you.

Hi Kristy,
sorry you feel so dizzy. What kind of dizziness is it exactly that you are experiencing? Dizzy dizziness that you can't walk straight and so on or that dizzy feeling that your body does not seem to be working really well and that laying down would help immediately?
Well, I am only familiar to the second version on a regular basis (apart from my concussion-dizziness that I had due to a cycling accident some months ago) and for me, laying down with the feet a bit above the rest of the body does help immediately (but it also worsens when I get up again). It also helps with nausea in that situation. The reason is not quite clear because I always have low BP but don't always feel that light dizziness feeling.
Apart from that it could also be from Remicade, but I did not know that side effect could come that late? Remicade knocked me out on my second infusion but right 5 seconds after the infusion was started, so pretty obvious connection. ;-)

I sometimes get dizziness during a flare, and mine is usually due to low sodium. I tend to lose sodium easily when I'm having a lot of diarrhea. For me, I've found that having a spoonful or two of soy sauce really helps, as it's very high in sodium and easily absorbed. It's a bit gross to just eat soy sauce, but it works well. You might want to try having something that's high in sodium and see if that helps at all. Good luck, I hope the dizziness eases up soon!

Thank you both for thing to think about when this happens.
It was the type of dizzy where I had to sit down. I could walk fine.
I do have sodium that runs right on the low normal line so maybe that is it. Before my diagnosis with Crohns I was a runner and drank salt water (sea salt in warm water. Really nasty, but works) after a run to prevent issues due to low sodium. Maybe next time I will do that. Soy Sauce is not an option as I also have Celiacs and most soy sauce contains gluten. They do make GF soy sauce but we do not keep it on the house.

Have you had your bloodwork checked recently? This for me was a sign that anemia was creeping up. If you have difficulties with some of your electrolytes, I don't think it is a huge stretch that your blood might be a bit out of whack as well.

I just had my blood work done in July. My short term iron was fine, but long term was low. I take an iron supplement almost daily to try to get my long term up, but this is a delicate dance. I need to get enough iron to get my long term up, but I do not want to cause constipation. So I take it for 2 days and then a day off. This seems to work.
