For the last 2 months I havent been feeling good. At first my doctor just said I was constipated and gave me Mirilax. After akin that for a while he said I wasn't constipated anymore but I don't feel any better. I feel the urge to poop all day and even right after I have already gone I still feel like I have to go. I usually can go 4 times mostly in the morning but not very much comes out and it is soft and usually really skinny. The adominal pain seems to be getting worse and I can't stand it anymore. Does it sound like I have crohns?

Those symptoms could indicate a lot of things. Unfortunately, nobody can diagnose you on the forum. You should see a qualified gastroenterologist and have them check you out. Ask your doctor for a referral.

Gmcsierra,

I can't answer your question for sure but I will tell you that my son was just diagnosed with Crohn's and he has always been constipated. Dr.'s kept putting him on Mirilax and telling me to have him sit on the toliet when I would talk to them about his abdominal pain. What finally got them to listen was that he was losing weight. (at an age he should be gaining) They have a blood test that is pretty accurate for a protein marker in your blood for Crohns. They also did a stool test and found protein in his stool which is a sign the small bowel is inflammed. I would ask to see a G.I. specialist, we weren't taken seriously until we went to one. They also told me that they like to do a colonoscopy because sometimes they are shocked by what is going on inside the body in comparision to symptoms. If you are miserable get it checked out, early diagnosis is key. Good luck and keep us posted!

Johnnysmom put it much better than I did. Sorry. :) I didn't mean to sound terse. It's been a stressful couple of weeks in the muppet house.

I'm not sure they just told me that they didn't show anything. My stomach hurt so bad that I can't get through a day of school. I just constantly feel like I need to poop

Have you seen a GI specialist, or just your regular doctor? There are many, many things that they could have tested your blood and stool for, there's no way to know from your description how thorough (or not) they were.

Seeing a specialist is absolutely essential.

I have been to a gi doctor and he put me on Mirilax and after being on that for a month I went back cause I didn't feel better and he said to take it 2 more months before we could do a colonoscopy. But the pain and stuff just is getting worse

Consider seeing a second GI doctor if you don't feel the one you're seeing is taking you seriously enough. There ARE some duds out there.

If you feel comfortable posting your general location, someone might have a recommendation for you.

I had blood and stool tests and they said they were negative. I also lost 20 pounds.

My son's Dr. said his blood and stool tests were all normal too. It wasn't until we saw the G.I. that he knew what to look for. He reordered new blood and stool tests and was looking for different things. It doesn't seem possible that it should make that big of a diffence but once you go to a specialist they see things much differently. I was diagnosed with a different autoimmune disorder the year before and my neurologist knew right away what the issue was and what to test me for. Hope this helps. Sorry you are hurting. :(

hey,

Thats exactly how i felt before i was diagnosed with Crohns; you go to the toilet, and then after you've started going you can't stop kind of thing, and you feel you still need it for a while after.

I got diagnosed after getting a colonoscopy, after a blood test showed my inflmatorries were very high - perhaps you should try getting a blood test :)?

Crohn's isn't (well it shouldn't) be diagnosed by a blood / stool sample alone.

Crohn's is diagnosed by looking at inflammation in the blood, by checking white blood count and by taking a sample of the colon mucosa by a colonoscopy.

A gastroenterologist mentioned that this is far from ideal, because unlike other diseases, there is too little biology involved, crohn's is one of the rare diseases that uses such a clumsy way of making a diagnose.

I agree that you should seek a second opinion from a different gastroenterologist. It does not sound like he is taking you seriously. It is important that you get a proper diagnosis, and that means they must go in and look and take biopsies. If it is not Crohn's or UC, it could be several other things - and the scopy will help the gastro determine what it is. Severe pain should never be taken lightly.
