do you ever NOT have diarrhea??

I'm in remission. Well, I think so. I had a resection last year (that's when I figured out I had Crohns) and I don't have pain, nausea, and colonoscopy looked good. However, I can't stop going to the bathroom less than 4 times a day. Usually 4-6 times. If I take colestipol (which I take for its side effect of constipation) I won't go but maybe once a day, but it too can only work so long and things will begin running again... So my question is this? Does anyone else have this problem? Is there ever a time when we don't have diarrhea?:sign0085:

It could be something your eating, or it could be a stomach bug. if it's not a flare up then i have no idea! sorry!

To answer your question, yes, it's quite typical for me to have totally normal stools during remission and even at the beginning or tail end of a flare. This is probably one for your specialist.

Great question.

After my surgery I had more than before my surgery! (1 per day to 3 or 4 per day).

Partly I understand now because my bowel is shorter.

I remember my doctor saying something to the effect of:

"your wrong after the surgery your bm's are more formed and less frequent..."

I have had either diarrhea or loose stools since my operation.

I'm the opposite I'm afraid I feel my bowels are more sluggish since surgery and quite often don't go for a day or 2, then occasionally I can't stop going maybe 3-4 times a day. There doesn't seem to be any triggers it's just unpredictable. The 2 definates for loose BM for me is stress or smoking. I don't smoke but I did have the odd one on holiday and that was the side effect, and I try not to get too stressed. I had my IC valve removed Nd was warned diarrhea would be a symptom but it hasn't really been a big issue, unless I'm having a wee flare up.
