My name is jimmy and I'm 19 years old I was diagnosed with crohns last year and this past year has honestly been the worst of my life cause of it. It seems like ill never be normal again, I've completely lost my social life, school is difficult to attend and a job seems impossible.

I've been on the steroids, remicade and now humira. Ive changed my diet but still seems like every few weeks or so I'm sick and in pain again. This is basically the beginning of my life trying to get on my own two feet and I just want to know if it'll get better or will I never be able to live a normal life again?

Hi Jimmy & welcome to the forum! I'm afraid that the questions you ask are a little difficult to answer. Each person reacts to medications and medical challenges such as ours differently. I can say though, that I have had years in which I've felt good and lived a normal life and also had years that I haven't done so well.

It does take time though to figure things out. Feel free to look around and ask questions. There are some great people on here to talk to. Take care:)

Hey man, chin up, I can relate to the bad vibes I was diagnosed last year, and few months following were shitty, I'm only just getting better now, but once you get the right treatment and hit remission you'll feel good again

Hi, Jimmy! Welcome to the forum!

What dietary changes have you made?

How long have you been on Humira, and is it making a difference? Does your doctor have any suggestions on what to do next? It's fairly common to have to try a few different medications (or combinations of medications) before you find one that works. How long did you take the steroids, and did you notice a difference on them?

Yes, Jimmy! It does get better! I promise. I know it's really hard. There was a time in my life when I thought I would never live without pain. It has been a long, difficult road... but I am happy to tell you that I have been in remission for over a year now. And I am off all my meds (for now). Stay close to your doctors.. and keep moving forward. You will find a balance.

The good news is that doctors are learning more and more about Crohn's disease every day. There is always hope. Good luck.
