Heres a short summary on whats going on...

Before i had crohns, i went to the bathroom once or twice a day (aside from urinating).

When i started having D, i went like 4-8 times a day, sometimes more. Eventually i was diagnosed and tried a variety of combinations of meds, now i have no D, unless i drink coffee, and im on 2400mg mesalamine, 15mg prednisone, 200mg azathioprine a day.

Well, in the past week, i have had very slow moving bowels, pretty sure im constipated. I first got alarmed when i didnt go for 3 days so i drunk two cups of coffee, and i was in the bathroom for about an hour in and out. I was in TERRIBLE pain. Now, i havent gone for 4 WHOLE DAYS! I dont wanna use coffee again, that was hell.

I guess what im getting at is, has anyone ever gone from having D to having C? And how do you all deal with C if you have it? I like C better than D, but i still dont like either.

I never really had the big D as a symptom, but rather was always constipated. I would say my typically bathroom schedule was once every 6-7 days! I don't know what was worse.... the 6 days of waiting or the one day when there finally was some action!

I really tried a lot of things (drinking more water, eating more fibre, metamucil, etc.) and truly nothing really worked. Sorry to say that, but I just want to stress that it is important that you let a doctor know about this change as it may mean you need to try a different treatment option.

I went through the same thing: switch from diarrhea to constipation. The only thing that really works for me is taking Miralax every day. Hopefully that helps you too!

Yes, Miralax is great, sometimes your bowels need some help getting back to their normal rhythms. I frequently have this same problem.
