Hi, I am currently waiting for a diagnosis still haven't had a colonoscopy but I was wondering if these symptoms sound familiar to anyone?
It all started early December, nearly 4 months ago. I got a chest infection and my asthma flared up really bad. During this time my toes started to tingle every time I put them up but I thought maybe just a side effect of the prednisone. As my infection cleared up my glands swelled up something awful and I was so tired I thought I had glandular fever. Blood test came back negative.
The asthma finally calmed down but the toes kept tingling, then my hands started to tingle in the mornings when waking up. The tingling in my toes started to encompass my entire feet and even burn at times. Hands started to hurt after the tingling and then I started getting pain in each of my joints at random. Pain is mostly in my hands and feet but often I get it in my elbows, ankles, wrists and hips.I am so tired, I get the chills all the time (no fever), awful headaches - especially from being in the sun or even bright lights. I’m seeing spots a lot and feel a lot of nausea and dizziness.
I went to the Dr and after explaining my symptoms as well as my family history - Mother -Sjogrens Syndrome, Aunt (her sister) - Rheumatoid Arthritis - Grandmother (Mom’s side) - Crohn’s he referred me to a Rheumatologist. I had to wait a month for the appointment which was a terribly long wait as I was freaking out.
My ANA came back 1:160 speckled but all others within the normal range. Rheumy prescribed me diclofenac for the pain but a week later I got abdominal pain, some vomiting, and diarrhoea. She said this could be due to a stomach ulcer, or it could have uncovered a colitis that is presenting differently in me. I have a rash on my face that has recently showed up which the Rheumy says is Rosacea. Sooo now I am playing the waiting game. I have to take in a stool sample in 3 weeks time and if that comes back positive then i get to have a colonoscopy.
Since I last saw her, I have been getting rashes on my face and chest that come and go usually right before I start feeling bad. My throat is really sore, I’m getting two nice little ulcers in my mouth and I’ve noticed my hair is starting to fall out. The only thing that seems to make me feel good is lots of sleep. I just want to know WTH is going on, does this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks for the help and support!

I would have the doctor look at the possibility of Lupus. Some of the symptoms remind me of the disease, while others do not. Something to rule out in any case.

Hi Gfunk, welcome. When you mentioned tingling in your hands and feet, that makes me think of Raynaud's disease. When I googled it, I found this link. See if this sounds like you:

With such a family history of various autoimmune illnesses, you really could have any number of AI illnesses yourself. Getting tests, even if just to rule things out, is a good step and it sounds like you're doing that now. Good luck, I hope you can get it figured out soon!
