Does your immune system balance out on meds?

I think I asked my Dr. this one time..if you take an immunomodulator like 6MP, does your immune system raise up to a functional level, leaving your body to fight off infections better than someone who's on a total suppressor like chemo? Like does it balance out and say "well folks, this is our new functioning level so let's fight things off even if we're small guys!" lol<---random i know

Funny, i thought with Crohns the immune system was TOO strong...

I have never gotten a straight answer from experts on this. Similarly I asked if I'd be wise to eat immune boosting foods or if that was counterintuitive since I'm suppressing my immune system. I have had so called experts answer both ways. I think nobody really understands fully or knows.
