My IBD doc is recommending I have this done and am scheduled for it late July. It seems kind of intense. Like a colonoscopy but goes into the small intestine, and under general anesthesia which is always a risk. Has anyone had it done?? How did it go? Was it a helpful diagnostic for your case?

In my case my bloodwork is good but my MRI is bad, so they want to make sure before switching me to Stelara that if it's just scar tissue they'll leave me on Remicade.

Yeah buddy I had it done back in early February cause of scare tissue that wouldn't let stuff move. It took two balloons to open it back.but in your case it should give you the answers that your looking for I hope. God bless you my friend..

Please help!
My Question: my MD is considering a balloon endoscopy at the terminal ileum. He states they go in through the mouth rather than up through the rectum. This seems odd to me, like it’s a lot longer area to traverse to get to the problem. Do any of you have experience with balloon procedures in this terminal ileum area? And if so did they go down through the mouth or up through the rectum? And was it successful?
