My stomach has been torn up lately. I am afraid that when we go to my son's place on Thanksgiving that I am going to spend the majority of the time in the bathroom. Any suggestions?

I would say eat very lightly and simply - maybe plain mashed potatoes with no gravy, a bit of plain turkey. No salad, no veggies, no cranberries, nothing like that. Keep it bland and low-fiber and only eat a small amount. You probably could also take an imodium just to keep things somewhat under control for the duration of the meal. It's not good to take imodium all the time, but I was told occasionally taking it is fine.

That's basically what I'm going to do, too - I already had one thanksgiving get-together with my mom's side of the family this past weekend, and I just had a small bit of turkey and potatoes, and that fortunately went okay. So keep it simple and light, and take meds if need be. Good luck!

Hi Cat
We got here eventually. We've had horrendous weather the last couple of weeks and still trying to unpack and get used to the new house. But we are getting there...slowly but surely.
Take care

Hi, I have been a 'snob' sadly before while attending Thanksgiving dinner. This is pretty awful but I had a wonderful time and was able to eat along with everyone else. Now, although this is 'rude' clearly, my health is important to me. If i can avoid being a victim to a meal or to appease others judgement, as a choice ~ I choose my health.
I brought my own food ;) Endured the eye rolls, whispers and jokes. But at the end of the evening, I was not tied to a toilet seat, wincing, and wishing i hadn't eaten that, lol.
If you choose to eat along with what is offered, try to remember your 'trigger' foods, or safe foods. Turkey can cause discomfort for some, is high protein and occasionally gas producing.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving. Enjoy your time with family, friends, etc.
Be well, God Bless.

I've been thinking about it myself! I'm going to try eating just a few bites of everything I like and drink lots of water. Also a shot of Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar helps digestion. Happy Thanksgiving to you!

I drink braggs too, lol. It seems to help digestion and taste great with honey n lemon ~ like a hot lemonade.

I had turkey, green beans and sweet potatoes. My wife fixed pumpkin pie minus the crust. I seemed to do fine

I bring my own food whenever I go anywhere especially on thanksgiving because turkey and all that good stuff does not like me.
