eating out with crohns

I just got diagnosed recently and a few months from now I want to go out to eat once in a while, what places do you all go to and what do you usually order?

I can usually find something to eat anywhere that I go.
And since food effects each one of us so differently, it's hard to give you advice on that one. I can eat most foods unless I overdo it. I wouldn't eat a huge salad, but a side one is usually okay. I try not to eat things with seeds or too much veggie skin. No beans or onions. Fried food doesn't sit well with a lot of us. A lot of us avoid dairy as well, but cheese makes my belly feel okay.

When I eat out I usually look for grilled chicken breasts or fish, and ask them what sauce they use. If it's something different than lemon or olive oil, I ask if I can have it without dressing. i also ask for baked potatoe or steamed rice instead on fries. I can also usually eat at italian resturants but only something with tomatoe not cream sauce.

I'm lucky I live in Lebanon, and our local restaurants serve our local food, which is mainly grilled kebabs, and chicken as well as many small dishes (Homos, etc....) which I can pick from what I can eat. If you have a Lebanese restaurant near you, try it and tell me what you think :)

I'm very lucky. I mentioned on this site before, food does not affect me in any way. If I'm in a flare, I'm in a flare. But if I'm in remission, I can also eat what I want.

As MBH said above, food effects us all differently. My wife and I tend to go out to eat at least once a week and I've never had any problems. I'm a picky eater anyway, so perhaps that is the reason food doesn't effect me.
Perhaps the only foods I like are fine.
For example, I don't like onions anyway, so maybe if I did eat them, I'd get sick.

Maybe that's what turned me off certain foods when I was young, and since then, I haven't eaten them.

umm....Mazen.....what are "homos" at your restaurants out there because I can tell you you'd be shocked with the result if you ordered one in America.

HAHAHAHA OMG i was in class when i read this and laughed out a little too loud

It sort of looks like "hummus" but it's more than a letter off, so I really have no idea what it could be. I just know what would happen if I ordered a Homo at my local restaurants.

HAHAH LMAO! i thought that when i read it, but decided to keep it to myself.
benson youre too funny. "order one"? hahah

When I go out to eat...I can almost always handle chicken strips. I feel like a 12 year old asking for them...but I love 'em. when I had surgery, that was one of the questions I asked my surgeon...will I still be able to eat chicken strips and fries???

I asked the doc if I will be able to pick up women w/out alcohol ;) He said no but you can order "homos", whatever that means ;)
