I finished 2 fairly close rounds of prednisone on Thursday 12/6. The edema is still pretty bad. My ankles are the size of grapefruit. My calves are larger than normal and my legs are still so heavy-going up stairs is difficult.

My moon face usually starts going down right away but I'm four days past and it's still chipmunk cheeks.

Should I be worried about kidneys, stroke, etc.? I'm also on Humira and I've been dizzy since I weaned off the pred.

The first pred round was three weeks before thanksgiving starting at 40mgs and then finishing right before Turkey Day. Then flared up after and started at 30.

Sammies,
I would give your doc a call. It's highly important that he knows what's going on. Potentially up for more blood work n tests, but hey, you're health is in the balance. Sounds like you might need a water pill n potassium for bout a week. Best of luck to ya! Muah- hugs-

Hugs Sammies, you have my sympathy. I'm losing protein big time thru my kidneys at the moment. It is not good ,I had a scan on my chest a couple of months ago and pulmonary edema and congestive heart failure was added to the peripheral edma. My heart is becoming enlarged as well. I am being treated with lasix at the moment ,only 40mg so far . I see my nephrologist in a couple of weeks and hopefully i will dgo back on methotrexate. It has helped my protein loss in the past. My docs have said my biggest danger is blood clots or heart attack... Hope you get some relief soon...Ron.
