I am having an endoscopy tomorrow afternoon, this will be the first time that I've had endoscopy, not sure what to expect. My prep seems to consist of simply not eating or drinking anything for six hours prior to my appointment. Not sure if they will give me something else when I arrive at the hospital or not.

My GE tells me that he will give me something to knock me out, I hope so as I tend to gag easily.

I had one of these a few weeks ago.

They gave me some lovely stuff through a canula in my hand. Similar to the stuff they give you when you have a colonoscopy, if you have had one of those.
It doesn't knock you out totally but kind of like you have had a few beers/wine and are really sleepy.

The only thing i remember is urging a bit when they first started and then belching and trying to apologies for it with the scope down my throat!
The stuff they gave me for the colonoscopy never worked on me but the stuff they gave me for this did!

Good luck and let us know how you get on Xxxxxxxxxxxxx

You will be fine! When i had mine they gave me plenty of sedation and sprayed the back of my throat to stop you gagging. I do remember gagging a bit when the scope first went in but then the rest I cant really remember as the sedation was so effective! Its not nearly as bad as a colonoscopy if youve ever had one as you dont experience any pain/cramping and its quick (only about ten mins). Good luck :)

I have had several of these, and generally the sedation makes me not remember them at all. I do have memories from two of them, and like pps it was just some gagging, but you're so sedated that you don't care very much, and aren't super-distressed or anything.
Good luck - I hope that things go well!

Well, I had my endoscopy this afternoon, apart from having to wait ages and ages (I think I was the last to be done or close to the last), it wasn't bad at all.

And I didnt remember a thing. The only thing I found a bit uncomfortable was the plastic guard that they put in your mouth, which they said was to protect the scope, but I think it was more to protect my teeth from the scope. At that point they started give me giving me the anaesthetic which knocked me out, next thing I knew was waking up in the recovery room, feeling very tired and hungry.

My gastroenterologist came in and talked to me after what seemed like an eternity, I was still groggy and I didn't take in everything he said. However he did give me a copy of his written report, which I am attaching to this post.

Well the report is quite good in my opinion. If ever the candidiasis comes back as positive then you might want to consider adding a different nutrition approach as well as the nilstat treatment. Pretty much you will be regarding at avoiding sugars, fruits, vinegar and yeast, and limiting carbohydrate (it's sometime suggested to cut gluten out). I can try to find you a more precise list of what to eat and what not to eat if you'd like.

I don't think you have a big case of candidiasis but still, it's presence is generally not welcome so better try to get it out of there and the food approach can only be beneficial on the long run.
