Super weird question: has anyone ever done an enema and the liquid just never came back out?! I had to do one this afternoon and it has been like 4 hours now and nothing ever came back out... It's kinda freaking me out a little!

Normally it's like, sorry, an explosion literally. Does this mean I'm so swollen it CAN'T come out!? 0.0

Sorry LaurieBird but I've never had this issue before. :( I'd let your GI know about it even if you do finally have a bowel movement as information like this will help them give you better treatment. I know in another thread you had mentioned possibly needing surgery. Any further news on that or a different treatment plan?

I have done (unfortunately) many enemas in my time, and yes, sometimes they do not come back out. Not sure why, but it never seemed to be a complication of anything with me. Are you feeling okay otherwise?

Thank god it's not just me! I thought my guts had swollen shut or something... :p It feels kinda funny down there... Not sure why, but I think its a bad sign. I'm not going to school tomorrow and am hoping that it will resolve itself at this point.

Ya I'm still not sure about the surgery thing, it will probably be a few months until I find out because I'm getting a second opinion before hand.

:moon:It used to happen to me many years ago. I used them at night and some time they would stay in all night. Some times just a short time.

I do a lot of (Pentasa) enemas too. I find that in the morning there isn't much left to come out at all. I guess the bowel and everything inside it just absorbs it as it should. I'd say it's just working as it should.

I wouldn't worry unless you're in pain, but tell your GI or IBD nurse if you're worried and see what they think.
