Entocort as maintenance

That doesn't really make sense unless you constantly have inflammation cause that's all it works for. There are other meds that help block more inflammation like Asacol which would make a little more sense but steroids are usually used to treat active inflammation and then go off of them once that inflammation is under control.

I did entocort and pentasa for 3 years. I have been on pentasa since first dx in 2002 . Got to point everytime reduced entocort would flare. Now on humaria and pentasa

It might be time to shop for a new GI.

well, maybe, maybe not,
How familiar is your GI with CD? What tests did he do and what were the results?

If you do decide to go with a new GI, look for one that is familiar with CD and has positive reviews. Most likely, the new GI will want all fresh tests to use in coming up with a treatment plan.

He is familiar but I think he is over exerted. He forgets what meds I'm on, surgical history and other things and makes incorrect assumptions. I know he sees many patients but don't ask if im on remicade when staring at your computer screen with my record!!!

I was on Entocort for 4 years or so from age 15, as well as Azathioprine & Salazopyrin. It worked well the first couple of years to keep inflammation down (severe Crohn's) but lost it's effectiveness. My prescribing dr at the time was one of the leading paediatric GIs in Aus and made the decision to try and allow me to finish school. Never had any issues on it until it stopped working.

ah, ok I get it,

One thing I noticed about my GI is the Medical Assistant will weigh me and check my vitals first, and then sit with me in the examing room and while he would be updating the chart, he would have me give an update on my condition, symtoms, etc.... then before the DR comes in to see me, the medical assistant would sort of give him a quick refresher on my chart because he is so busy...

my surgeon does the same thing because he sees so many patients as well,

I would rather sit and wait an extra ten minutes to give the dr time to go over my chart to refresh his memory rather than just going room to room ..

Maybe you would be better off with a new GI, but like I said, check his reviews and remember, sometimes new GI's will want to have their own tests done..
