I've had crohn's since approx. 14. Had surgery at 19 in 2005 small part of Ileum and small intenstines resected. Flaring up started about 6 months ago since surgery. Now have gone to the doctor due to pain when swallowing, never had esophageal pain before. Do have indigestion due to crohn's and thought maybe GERD had caused the 2 small ulcers they found in barium swallow. But doctor says that he wants Endoscopy to see if it's crohn's. Anyone else have this, where it wasn't crohn's and just from acid damage?

hey there, i would go for the endoscopy. it lets your GI look right at the area and see whats up.

i have had ulcers in my esophagus and throat. its like everything you swallow is a sharp rock right? lol

it gotten to the point where i can tell they are coming on and dont need to be scoped anymore, most often my GI will just prescribe me a Medrol Pack (5 day course of prednisone) and that knocks it right out. only to start up again weeks or months later, but thats the best it can be for right now.

same as you, i had never had esophageal pain before that. like you said, acid reflux pain.....and then its hard to tell what youre even feeling after a while lol.

anyways, good luck, let us know how it turns out?

and welcome to the forum btw! =]

Sorry, I get them from the crohn's. I also get a lot of mouth sores. I can't stand barium test and prefer endoscopy.
If it means anything my officemate gets them too and she is crohn's free.
Good luck.

Recently had a upper GI and told it was normal. I am using a lot of tums these days. Something is going on with the esophagus. Let me know how the endoscopy goes if you get it. I plan to talk to my doc about what else she can do to find out what my problem is. Good Luck and I hope it gets better for you.
