I have had health issues since 10/09 D belly cramps. then I developed a URI took antibx and it made my belly hurt and had D. Alltho it did clear up my URI. I hesitated to call my GI b/c he said next time I had a flare he was going to put me on Remicade. Which I fear greatly. Well I got another URI ( dr said could be swine flu) treted with more antibx and tamiflu. Bowel still upset. I have chronic back and rib pain saw my pain dr. He did a procedure on my back he also gave me pain meds and muscle relaxers. My D at this point is laughing at lomotil, I have a yeast infection under breast in between legs and everwhere else I get on diflucan. I finally get an appt with GI of course 2 wks out. Saw him He said your belly is really tender he orders bloodwork and stool samples. By this time I am running fever. My belly is killing me and I have this new pain from my back to my belly. Called my gp she said to call my urologist he orders a cat scan for today. I just feel I have a malady of things going on. My stress is out of the box. Please advise
but I feel maybe an ER visit maybe my best chance to make these drs pay attention:depressed:

ugh you poor thing! maybe its a stomach infection rather than anything else? it sounds odd that the doctor came to the swine flu diagnosis... my daughter had this a few weeks ago and there was no doubt - the high temperature is one of the giveaways.. has yours gone really high quickly?

she was on tamiflu and was ok, but my friend suffered awful gastro side effects from it, sickness and diarrhea, so maybe that has added to your symptoms.

i hope they can figure out what's going on with you quickly and find you some relief. maybe you could try one of those pre/pro-biotic yoghurts and see if it helps the gut problems.

I hope you get some answers from your cat scan. I didn't want to go on Remicade either, I was VERY scared of it. Turns out it was the best thing I have done, I have my life back. If you can't get everything cleared up, you may want to give it a try.
Good luck, girlie. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm right there with MBH - try not to be afraid of Remi - it has worked wonders for me! I''m sorry you are going through such a rough patch Bethy! I think at this point I might go to the ER - I'm not liking the sound of all the pain you are experiencing with your gut and the fact that the doctor said your gut was tender. Usually a sign of inflammation. I'm sure all the antibiotics are doing a number as well. I'm sorry - I hope you get it all straightened out soon and feel better!

With all the yeast stuff you have going on externally, I'd say all your normal gut bacteria have been wiped out from the antibiotics as well. Maybe get a Probiotic. It should help out.
You probably have just gotten run down. It takes me longer than anyone in my house to kick most viral illness.

Get your CT done. If you are feeling too miserable then by all means visit the ER. I hope you feel better. Sounds like you could use some TLC. Do you have someone who can help you out?

Feel better Beth. I will be thinking of you.:)

Reading this post a little late hope your doing ok or better yet went to ER sometimes thats what it takes to get some answers faster for the time being at least for the pain and to make sure there isn't something even more serious. Hope you feel better soon.

Hey Beth, I'm not a doctor, but if I was running a fever with belly pain, I'm straight to the ER with no hesitation (especially if you already have been dx'ed with CD...you walk into the ER and say you have CD and belly pain with a fever, and you're in lickety split). This can be a lot of things, and more diagnostics are definately needed with no doubt in my mind!

Then again, I live in Alberta Canada where we have a free medical consultation line where we call (health link) and a live nurse picks up the phone, takes your symptoms, asks you questions, then helps to decide whether or not you need to see a physician in ER now, or it can wait until tomorrow at your MD's office.

The G.I. should not have thretened to put you on remicade...many G.I.'s have bad bedside manner...remicade has a very high success rate when used when the patient is just newly diagnosed (providing the ultrasound is done to ensure there is no active abdominal infection, and a mantoux test to make sure you have no TB; or else you can die). I'm looking forward to the opportunity to be on the medication and am glad it's being paid for in full...as it's quite pricy here (~$15k for the first 45 days! then ~$5k every 8 weeks)!

Welcome!
Sorry to hear that things aren't going so well for you. :( Hopefully you find some answers soon.
