Hello everyone.

My niece is suffering from severe ulcerative colitis since more than eight months now, and despite the doctors having tried several medicines (including steroids), nothing quite seems to work to prevent the regular flare-ups.

Now, the doctors have come to the conclusion of soon beginning with infliximab/Remicade (intravenous). It has serious side-effects, so the hesitation of my sister and her fears are fully justified. She´s really under severe stress due to the mention of this medicine.

My question is, does anyone of you have an experience of ever taking this medicine, especially in your children?

I thank you all in advance!

Besides of course the individual experiences, my aim is also to find out what exactly the parents should be careful about whilst the child is put on this medicine?

I am on Infliximab (I am an adult though). I have only been on it a short while (3/4 months ) but I don’t experience side effects. I am a little tired on the day of treatment but other than that I feel fine. It’s not particularly working for me but that’s another matter. Good luck to your niece:)

Thank you for sharing your experience. Much appreciated! I hope more posters will contribute to this thread.
